What's good:
The best currency system for ARPG ever.
Great grimdark setting, which even describes in-universe why there's grinding and 3 difficulties.Which you'll probably disregard anyway.
Cool abilities system that balances passives and equipment.
What's bad:
The grind is typical for that type of games.
Desyncing can be really irritating.
Build only become viable arguably after cruel, some even after merciless.

The most amount of mid/endgame viable builds in any game ive ever seen by a mile. There are hundreds of skills and every single one of them can be built around.
It is worth noting though that its not a game you can pick up super casually and have a ton of fun with. A lot of the enjoyment in the game comes from learning all the nuances and details and figuring out how to exploit them. Its a game for people who love to research, theorize, and innovate above all else
Don't bother. Do yourself a favor and get Torchlight 2 or Titan's Quest instead.

researching what you want to do is a good idea, check searches out for new players, simple non expensive builds, theres tons of them.
I highly recommend hardcore simply because you learn faster what your limitations are.
Softcore if your computer is weak.
Also they got fun leagues but the current ones have been up for 3+ months so they are probably over soon and will probably restart. Someone can correct me on this
