What are some examples of fallen heroes in video games?
>>285882127
Solid Snake in the first MGS goes on about how he's not a hero and seems to regret all the killing he's done as a soldier
El Shaddai has a segment where Enoch falls to darkness and you play as one of the fallen angels to bust him out of it
any others though? not OP but I do love the fallen hero archetype
Does Delita count?
Myth series. Every thousand years the hero of last age comes back as a bad guy.
Oh Gustave, flew too close to the sun. But it was a fun adventure
>>285883159
It's been a minute since I played FFT but I don't think Delita ever fell from grace so much as he was written in history as a hero for Ramza's actions
I guess Wander counts
Nier
>>285883159
He was never a hero, he was just scum.
Sheik
Skullkid
Oichi
Akuma
>>285883994
None of those where heroes.
>>285884112
Oichi was a hero.
Sheik is a follower of the Sheikah, and failed.
Akuma was practicing the hadou, and the best student, up until he killed the teacher.
Skullkid was tatl and tael's best friend and hero, up until he got that weird mask.
I guess you could consider your companions in the SMT games as fallen heroes since they go down paths that usually lead to things being worse off for humans
>>285884205
He wasn't a hero either.
>>285884301
Go and check the definition of hero since none of those assholes where one.
>>285884661
Why because you have a hard time understanding Oichi, brother to Nobunaga, is an anti-villain and a failed Hero?
>>285884301
Those still aren't heroes you fuck.
he had a hard life
>>285884803
A failed hero is not a hero.
>>285884301
>Sheik is a follower of the Sheikah, and failed.
that's not really what we mean by fallen hero. a fallen hero is a character who starts off as "good" but then either strays from the path of righteousness or ends up causing more harm in the process of doing what they think is right.
Think Darth Vader or Arthas
>Skullkid was tatl and tael's best friend and hero, up until he got that weird mask
I don't know where you got the idea Skullkid was a hero. Pretty sure he was just a mischievous/playful skullkid until Majora's Mask twisted those attributes into something more malicious
Nigga became Dracula, that was quite the fall.
>>285884865
>fallen
I havent played the GBA Zero series
How did he fall
>>285884804
A hero is a practical entity demurred in the eyes of the cynical.
It's not the device where the person who kills the villain, or stops him, is a hero.
>>285884301
>Sheik is a follower of the Sheikah
What the actual fuck am I reading
Sheik is Zelda in a disguise
THAT'S ALL HE IS

Those motherfuckers are just tragic. They never had the attention or characteristics to be heroes thematically.

You never see him before his fall. All you have to go on that he was heroic is old legends, most of which come from his friends.
Badass yes, hero no.
Jecht and Auron in FFX
>>285885935
That's what a fallen hero is.
A hero is a person, or thing that is, in the eyes of the cynical a worthless thing.
Heroes have nobility, cause and purpose. To the villain, these things are worthless, imperishable nuisances.
A fallen hero is a hero with these things compromised in the eundurance of values and principles. Sheik fails to escort Link to the final battle safely, and gets captured.
Oichi fails to protect Jubei, and even gets in his way towards the end.
Skullkid gets his friends tied up in a mess of drama because he's possessed by the mask.
And Akuma ends up living the rest of his life in anger and aggression because he can't conceptualize the true form of the hadou, the most free and uninhibited form.
These aren't your elementary school fallen heroes where the hero meets his end at the hands of a villain, or fails to accomplish his goals, these are heroes who can't have what they want because there is a better, stronger hero than them available and as a result fail to meet their goals.

well you're wrong because the reason he was there corrupted by the abyss in the first place was because he went on a heroic quest to stop it from spreading. He was a famed knight and a hero in the eyes of those who inhabited Lordran during his time.
Can we all just agree to ignore this namefag? this thread has potential to actually be interesting
