4 was the fix 3 needed, but it failed to add its own flavour to the gameplay. DD2 was clearly a cashgrab, but some of the casualised content was actually welcomed and benefical.
5 is playing it way too safe imo. Like, why limit the duat tech to the main cast? sure, with 40 characters it means over a thousand combos, but this is the PS4, they should see big.

Chances are I'll likely get it on sale. I bought DD2 since the first disgaea was a first love somewhat. Man was I disappointed overall. I had avoided talk of the game to avoid spoilers. Instead I just got "HAHA you thought it was a sequel: The dbz movie"

Playing the first one at the moment, enjoying it but it seems a little dated.
Which should I get into next? I just have Ps3+Ps2+PSP at the moment (Why isnt there a 3DS Disgaea?).

Locking skills behind a certain mechanic seems it'd do more harm than good when I think about it.

Regular ds and it's the first game.
Play them in order of release because it will be harder to play an older title because the mechanics of the previous game feel more dated with each no release and it's hard to go back to those.
Make sure you play the psp version of 2.

Yes it's a bad idea since like I said before with the improved mechanics it will be very hard to play a previous title.

Vita versions have all the dlc and if you prefer tv those two do work on the vita tv. PS3 version both have about $50 worth of dlc but really the story dlc is only what matters
