This kind of thing is going to be on the rise along with VR. That's one of the things that make me the happiest.
That was their strategy for winning the VR race. Make it better, and then bend over backwards to cater to third parties and enthusiasts. Occulus was going along a route something like this as well, but Valve is also able to leverage Steam, as well as the ability to make it stupid fucking simple to integrate into they platforms they offer to developers themselves.

I don't think he has, but a lot of brave/dumb pioneers with DK1/2's have already made and tested plenty of shit in 2D. This has been a thing for some time and people are being extremely fucking quick to forget this. They were and are crude devices, but their purpose in the first place was figuring out how the CV1 should be built and work as to be nonshit since nobody knows how to do that shit right yet. So they stuck their feet in the water with some preproduction machines to see how the entire scheme needed to be reworked to work well as a gaming device and other shit. This is why I still have confidence in the CV1, and am convinced that the barely-better-than-a-DK2 Morpheus will only succeed as a hyped up console device and not as a competitor in the VR race. It is going to be miles behind, no matter how early it launches. We all know what kind of results you get by going in fast and dirty with outdated hardware. Sony has learned this lesson before. There's no reason for them to be repeating it.

As an owner of an dk2 I can say personally that hype for vr is appropriate. It's definitely the coolest thing I've ever experienced.
That being said it's not without it's flaws right now and needs some serious improvements before it become a mainline medium.
Waifu talk aside, I think the idea of a VR park is pretty cool.
Just put your VR in, make the environment so it just keeps updating the headset on where you are and it displays some fantastical scene, when in reality it's just a greenscreen or some shit. Well bro, you're in luck because I did EXACTLY what you just described. Lived in Japan for a year, got to my third year of a Comp Sci program. Then I threw it all away when I got my hands on a DK1. Working on a turned based strategy game for Gear VR right now , success is very uncertain and I'm living like a hobo. But the thrill is incredible. This industry is moving so fast, everything is so exciting and I feel like I'm in the greatest revolution since the dot com boom. (please don't let that be foreshadowing)
