Have you ever tried becoming a videogame streamer before?

How did it go?
>>
>>285513850

I must know what hes saying in WoW.
>>
>>285513850
I do, but not for money like everyone these days.

I stream since Twitch asked for donations to keep the servers and I usually stream just PBs attempts and talk to friends.
>>
I made a youtube channel. Streaming is too much of a pain in the ass, since you can't edit shit out. I 'm a mod in a few of my friend's streams, but they only stream on special occasions anyway.

yes, you can also tell a person that its cheaper to get the individual item but they never listen.

I have and currently still am one. One of the biggest hurdles holding me back is my consistency because my work schedule is different every week.

But I don't do it for money as I have a job for that, so I enjoy it when I do it regardless. I have a handful of regulars that come in so I'm happy enough with the way things are progressing.

I also just bought a new rig and will eventually turn the old guy into the dedicated streamer until I can build a better one, so that should improve quality a bit.
>>
I can't stream because Australian upload rates are garbage. Also I'm an incredibly boring person that wouldn't be fun to watch.
>>
>>285518696
A major factor in this and why the wrong people become big in streaming is that they act like morons, and attract other morons, who then spam their stream everywhere, including here on /v/, whereas if we post a link to our stream here, we get a handful of people who if we're lucky wont spam the chat with dank memes before leaving, and of course we get banned for advertising.
>>
I could go for some fast food about now...
>>
Well, I still stream nightly. Handful of regulars but fuck doing it for money honestly. I'm gonna play the games, might as well get more enjoyment out of it with talkin to peeps.
>>
I do guys and also have 26million subs on youtube! Suck it bros!
>>
>>285513850
Holy shit I want that maymaymay poster.
>>
>Not streaming for money

Idiots.
>>
I have only streamed while I draw on photoshop but only invited a few people. so I only had 5 viewers. I'd had more if posted on my twitter but I'm too scared of large crowds.
>>
Tried to stream once, managed to get up to 15 followers, untill i realised everyone in the chat was saying the stream was trash.

I learned that day that you actually need a powerful PC to stream decent quality.

>tfw i didn't realise my streaming app auto detected me to 240p + 20 fps.

Atleast people enjoyed my CTR stream although it looked dook.

i did once for a friend. meh.
now i just record myself playing games then upload them to youtube. i dont talk or anything. just like the idea of being able to watch the game if i want.
>>
I've been entertaining the idea of it recently. I don't aspire to make money from it or anything, I just think it could be a bit of fun.

I streamed for a while on a relatively popular site. It was fun, even though I was limited in what I could stream due to having a toaster of a laptop, so it was mainly N64, PS1, and GBA games, and occasional indie titles of one kind or another. I want to get back into it since I have a better computer now, but jobs get in the way of even regular game-playing now.

I was a streamer. Back in like 09. Probably one of the more interesting times in my life.

Was back when mogulus was a new thing. Largest number of people i ever got to watch me was about 300 though. Was great. Quit when channels started eating up smaller streamers and becoming super streams and every fucking channel had drama. I said fuck that shit.

Now i just don't have the energy anymore. I don't even watch other people play games unless it's sgdq/agdq.
>>

I can't agree with you more, either the streamer is up-and-coming and has annoying follow alerts, or is somewhat/very well known and they do a song and dance for subs&donations.

has a lot less to do with your pc's specs but more your internet speed. Back in the day adobe released their own encoder for that shit and it literally enabled any toaster to stream fantastic quality stuff with low cpu usage. Most people's issue was not having fast cable upload speeds.

twitch tv / ganooshkov

that's probably the problem, that i don't really have a normal time. i guess at nights. like now i'm playing valkyria chronicles
>>
I stream almost daily. I don't pull more than 10 viewers, most I've ever had was like 20. I don't stream for donations and I usually have my mic muted unless I'm doing something with friends on Vent so they can hear what I'm saying in the conversations.

I'll stream raid nights or any game I'm playing on PC, emulated or not. Currently working through a Xenoblade Chronicles playthrough slowly.

I have a capture card for playing on consoles with a nice setup, but I rarely use it.

To be honest, I mostly stream so that my friends can see games they'd never play otherwise. For example, Xenoblade - a buddy of mine doesn't have a Wii and would never emulate it, so I asked if he'd watch me play through it, and he's been sticking it to it - hence why it's a slow playthrough, I'm playing around his and my schedule. Others also like to watch us have our fight nights on USF4.
>>
>>285524935
Exact same for me. The longest I've had at least one person is about five minutes.
>>
Nowhere because mods are too butthurt to let people actually share their streambros anymore.
>>
>yfw most of these people are complete accidents or simply some meme of the day link on reddit gone viral

I tried and it made me realize that people dont like watching gameplay. They just want to listen to and look at talking heads.

Its getting a bit fucking creepy now, they're all just watching me, in silence. No matter how talkative I am.

Depending on the game and how long I play I'll get
5-200 viewers.

I have about 10 or so regulars.

>>285528786
Just be happy for them. The moment you try to get the lurkers to do anything or acknowledge them directly, they will leave.

I thought about streaming a few times but I still ever only had pretty bad internet wherever I lived so far and when it comes down to it I'm probably way too shy and quiet to keep a stream entertaining.

>>
I tried like 4 years ago when the big thing was livestream with a chatango chat. I got a consisntant number of viewers for a while. Then Twitch got big and I tried that while still using Chatango. I got bored and started hating the people I was streaming to so I just fucking stopped.

I don't know what it is about that chat client that brings out the worst in people but holy fuck. Don't believe me? Look at Vinesauce. Good streamers, pretty decent people running the place, but until they switched over to twitch it was the most cancerous place ever. It was like /v/ with names. The worst part is that people stay and chat becuase they have nothing else to do and just get even more cancer. My favorite streams from back in the day all used chatango and most of them have or had shit communities that just take everything too far or get involved in every little detail of the stream or people's lives.

I stream a bit on twitch exclusively now, but I'm geting bored of the whole affair. I'd rather just stick to watching a stream and then doing other things for the rest of my day. It can be fun, but i've seen people take streaming or even watching way too far.

For your own entertainment, perhaps? It's a great hobby. Get to chill with tons of people while playing games. Talking about games, talking about what you're playing, or even just minor shit and amusing anecdotes.

Also yes, streaming is an investment. I laugh at the people thinking they're going to just get rich off Twitch without putting in any time, effort, or money into it and people will just show up and give them money.
>>
>>285513850
I streamed some Dota 2 games like 3 years ago.

I got no viewers and only streamed a couple of games before I got bored, while streaming I had a bit lower framerate and couldn't relax as much. I also didn't feel like streaming while playing with friends because then everybody would hear us talking dutch on skype.
