The reason they've been releasing so much great stuff in Japan is that they know the business, and it's not so expensive to make it there (Club Nintendo stuff for North America vs. Club Nintendo stuff for Japan). Another reason why they're releasing so much great stuff in their home country could be that they're losing market share to other entertainment (for example, tablets). Just to add something else: the reason why they're releasing more games in Europe (and earlier, I might add) is that, currently, money exchange between Japan, the U.S., and Europe favors Europe. What I mean is the euro is strong against the dollar, from the perspective of the yen.
