The writing in the Law and Chaos routes are absolutely dreadful, the former might actually be the worst written Law route in the series after IV.
Neutral is GOAT tier but that doesn't make up for the other two main options being shit,

Also no. The DS is the best handheld. 3DS has lackluster games comparitively because they focus on gimmicks, and GBA games were only good for their time.
DS games had memorable visuals, clean spritework, and fantastic gameplay. with a huge library of hidden gems like Lost magic, Magical starsign, and Monster tale, outside the normal nintendo titles.

Combine this with outdated hardware at launch and horrible resolution resulted in generic games, which was saved by the touch screen mechanics, but no one could use it for anything other than menus save for a few games, because of said hardware.
