And that is because CoD doesn't change enough of its content with each annual release despite its shear size. For a company such as Activision/Infinity Ward which makes so much fucking money out of CoD alone, they should really be changing more things with each game. But they don't.
Scott on the other hand, actually has changed shit, and a fair amount of shit given the time. Hell, he's been working non-stop on it so much to an extent where both FNaF2 & 3 were released prematurely due to how fast he was getting them done. No point in releasing the games 6 months apart from each other when he's made enough changes between instalments in 3.

It's a personal thing. A lot of people can relate to being just a little bit freaked out by those old robots and costumes. Maybe not as a kid as much but definitely as a young adult - adult. The setting of the first two games were very compelling settings as no game, or even movies to an extent really played on this fear. On a surface level the gameplay of the games is also pretty compelling, tracking robots and managing resources to make sure they don't get you. While the first two games were exploited into doing the same task over and over but just really fast the third might have the better gameplay of the group. However it's only been out for a day and I'm sure in a week we'll have the exploit that will make it just as mindless as usual.
