When is a good time to get into the 8th gen?
The end of my backlog is in sight, but there's nothing on the new systems.
atleast 5 exclusives
Games that are ps3/ps4 or 360/xbone can count too if you value the graphical update.
Usually when the revision of the consoles are brought out with a good price drop. PS4 Slim and the Xbone Slim. Wii-u has enough good games on it to warrant a purchase if you're into them.

Well I only play games that actually grab me, so I'm not like the spergs who play EVERY SINGLE FUCKING good game that comes out.
My 7th gen library was probably 40 games or so, and I feel like I've played it into the ground.

Well I'm already pretty sure I'm just gonna choose a PS4, and ride the whole gen through on it.
I had every console plus a PC last gen, but at different times. I don't have the energy to do that anymore. Just gonna pick the most solid and diverse platform and stick to it.
When there is games that are already out that are worth getting and can't be played elsewhere.
I got a Wii U and PS4 early and regret it. Ghost towns for a long time.

8/06 ps3, 9/09 ps3 slim.
The 360 is a bit odd as it went through multiple revisions/motherboard designs. Notably Falcon went down to a smaller PSU, 65nm design and better thermal pastewhich largely solved RROD issues, and Valhalla went down to a 45mm design.
I think Falcon added HDMI support as well.

Id say the sooner the better. Xbone isnt to terrible and if you can afford Xbox live gold its definitely worth it for the free games. They gave away Rayman Legends away today free and I am having a blasty blast.
Only good time to get consoles is when they go on sale.
I'm gonna wait for the slim PS4 ($300) and nab it online on black Friday/cyber Monday for like $250

You can get PS4 in a month, then get Bloodborne, First Light, Second Son, Resogun, Samurai Warriors, maybe rent The Order.

For Xbone, you could get it now. Its only $350 which isn't too bad. Get Sunset Overdrive and Dead rising 3. Crackdown 3 is coming too so maybe you could wait for that? Master Chief Collection is good too.
PS4 I'd says wait for MGS5 and another price drop. Then get BloodBorne, No Man's Sky, Uncharted 4 idk there's a ton of exclusives on PS4.
Wii U(if you even want one) buy one now or not. there's a ton of exclusives on the consoles so if none of those interest you just abandon hope.

Buy PS4/XO when a price drops hits or when a slim model gets released so Q4 2015/2016 and by time you will see what games interest you more on these two platforms.
Right now it is best to buy a Wii U due to its library that has been built up by now and because of upcoming games and of course there will be trolls that will say that Wii U is dead despite games being released and are coming to Wii U and yet to be announced games that will arrive on Wii U.
Even Dreamcast gets games to this day. I heard Sturmwind was fun.

when they will have at least 5 really good exclusives and when slim versions will be out
amd confirmed some time ago that is already working on xbox one slim so probably the same goes for ps4 slim since amd made both consoles
at this moment xbone has better exclusives than ps4 but both consoles will be getting good exclusives on christmas so i would wait to at least that time or even to the next year since as i said slim versions will probably be shipped out next year
as goes for wii u it has already a ton of good exclusives but i would wait on your place to buy it after e3 because there is a rumor that nintendo is going to show new console on this year e3
since they already released new 3ds i think that they are going to show on the e3 an improved version of wii u just like they made an improved version of the 3ds
last if you want to build a pc then wait to the end of this year too because amd is going to release new graphic cards series 300x in 20 nm so buying 290x now would be waste of money - if you don't like amd then still wait because nvidia will have to make new card to compete with amd's 300x series

announcing wii u slim i not that bad idea because components of wii u are outdated 40 nm and because of that production of wii u is pricey
amd confirmed that their new 20 nm chips will be cheaper in production than older version so it can only help nintendo at this point - they can make smaller and cheaper console or just throw in some more gimicky stuff in it like with new 3ds
