I could argue famous VAs already get fucking over paid simply for their name.
I could also argue that many positions at AAA games are far overpaid and in extreme excess, which is why we have giant fucking bloated budgets.
Unionizing is stupid and going to shut them out of alot of work from naive or new studios who can't or won't work with unions. It will lock them forever to companies like EA and activision and the like. Which is fine as long as those companies are doing well and willing to put up with their shit. There's also the issue that some actors need good direction, whereas a lot of VA work is just getting a script thrown at you and being told "Read that".
Case in point, Dinklage in Destiny. He sounds so fuckign deadpan and lifeless, you can hear him just reading the words off the page. When he's the guy you have to listen to the most, it really fucks things up.
VAs should certainly earn more than they do for AAA titles. It's really odd thinking the guys behind GTA V got less than $100,000 for their time and talent.
