i was really intrigued by the job system and all the crafting jobs but they are fucking useless
autoattack is a fucking joke so you spam your 2 skill rotation over and over just to level up and get a shitty fucking skill you are not going to use for the next 10-20levels
As a summoner mage you get a pet and 2 skills you can use. One is a damage over time skill so you use it once on a minion and then you spam your other skill over and over and ocer because you dont have anything else. And instead of giving you another nuke spell they give you "restore 20% mp" shit as well as a weak heal. MY FUCKING SKILLS USE LIKE 2MP!! By the time i cast those shits my mp and Hp has already regenerated on its own.
Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? You literally go 12 levels with only 1 real spell.
Then i switched to a marauder, which is a guy with a huge axe so i could finally wreck some shit.
Turns out the class is a tank but i leveled that piece of shit to 22 anyway just to see if the game gets any better. It doesnt.
Seriously fuck this game. Fuck the mute community. Fuck the combat. Fuck the mind numbing quests. And most of all fuck the people on /v/ who shilled me into subscibing for this boring shit of a game. Yes i am mad.

Why do they play though? I'm not that guy, but I'm in the same boat. I like a lot of the stuff, like the environments, jobs, style, in FFXIV, but the game just isn't very fun by oneself. In FFXI, it was either party or die, which was annoying at times, but it forced camaraderie and created lasting memories.

The fun social aspect of any MMO now is the endgame. Leveling up is just the boring solo grind to endgame (it hasn't been something to be experience in well over a decade, I have no idea why you thought you would get anything else.) The people who "shilled" you into subscribing to the game were obviously at endgame, something you didn't even get close to. They have an entirely different outlook on the game while you didn't even do any challenging or fun content.
Summoner doesn't get interesting until 30. You get more DoTs to use, and at 30 and 35 you get more things to use aetherflow stacks with. Marauder was always the more fun tank so I don't know why you didn't like it.

I've tried a dozen of them and they're all exactly the same shit. Nobody EVER plays together before endgame. They are dead empty barren wastelands until endgame which take forever to get to unless you've done it all before. Until endgame, you're just playing some of the worst videogame content available today. That's what MMOs are without other people - utterly shit games with shit quests, no physics, bad graphics, bad controls, ugly HUDs, and so on. Everything about MMOs are shit outside of the social aspect which 99% of the time you'll never get to experience.

Alright. If MMOs are really all about endgame ok i guess i can accept that.
But why the is the player progression so absolutely awful?
Even korean grinding simulators you get like 3 different skills ever 4 levels or so that completely change your skill rotation
Then you learn to use those skills effectively and get another batch to switch things up and add to your overall abilities.
I dont mind getting 1 skill at all but autoattack may as well not exist in ffxiv and the game heavily relies on constantly using skills so it becomes this boring spam of 2 buttons which is simply not fun. Especially if you have no skills to look forward to that change the way you go about killing things.
Marauder was 10x more fun than summoner but i still suffers from the generaly awful combat. The first 2 skill you can combo were still the only consistently useful ones.
The game gave me a stun with a huge cooldown at some point which didnt really make a difference in terms of fun.

the fun things in maple and RO are killing bosses and you can't really do that without getting the stuff you need. Scrolls and gear and cards and whatnot, all of which take some finesse to acquire quickly. I helped people all the time with things that were easy enough to get, stuff like raydric cards and 4 slot clubs, or scrolls and pink adventurer capes.
