I got a PSP, Had Birth By Sleep, Third Birthday, Valkyria Chronicles 2, and I think one other game but forget.
Played it for about a total of five hours, most of which was VC2.
Played VC3 and Danganronpa on PPSSPP

Got a Vita. Tons of games, probably as many hours as I had on my PS3. It is super great.
Got a PS4. Peer pressured into playing Destiny with friends. Lasted a month, had some good times.
Haven't touched it since October.

I still am playing my psp more than any other console i own. Recently completed on it: castlevania: sotn, + aria of sorrow, resi 3, mgs:pw, chron trigger. currently playing mhp3rd and field commander. very sweet console, love how smooth ps1 games run on it. recently bought a 16gb ms from china for it for about £5, absolute godsend. makes me laugh considering when psp's were more popular, a 4gb stick would cost a tonne of money.

It's great, although it's a lot simpler compared to FFT.

Also if you're autistic about grinding, you can grind in the beginning until you get endgame gear since everything scales in random encounters.
Regarding ppsspp, I don't know, since I haven't tried it. But it's made with space magic so anything works on it.
