Why don't you donate on a Kickstarter to new game from the creator of The Old Republic /v/?
>kickstarter
>mmo
Even if they had made good games in the past
>MMO
>SWG
This'll probably come back to bite me in the ass. I'm donating anyway though, I wanna see where this goes.

>"Executive Producer" A producer who is not involved in any technical aspects of the filmmaking process, but who is still responsible for the overall production. Typically an executive producer handles business and legal issues.
TL:DR: All he did was manage the marketing and licenses of those game and took no part in their actual creation, they were all huge financial flops. Considering he no longer works for these companies, you can assume it was somewhat responsible.
>"Creative Director" is a fancy term for "Ideas Guy" and the games he worked on are shovelware tier.
These people are hack frauds, and you're getting swindled by them.
>dudes in charge handled:
>Sims Online
>TOR
>Shadowbane
>Galaxies
Did they want me to recoil in horror? Because I am. That shit is not a selling point.

So none of you have ever played SWG. right?
I wonder how many of you are even old enough to what what it is, and just got it confused with ToR
>>284760778
It went from playable to shit to closed
>>284759051
i have never seen more consistent opinion from /v/ while it's a corrext one too
its wonderdul moment
>>284760778
this is bait
>>284760120
I loved SWG, but that is a huge list of shit, i doubt he had a hand in any of these games or else they all would have been GOOD and not a large mass of shit to list with one redeeming name by chance.
>>284760120
>Executive producer handles business and legal issues.
>Creative director is an idea guy
You might want to try reading up on what those roles actually do before parroting an opinion you developed reading 4chan.
>>284760120
wow, at least someone didn't got OP bait. I am impressed

The concept of Crowfall looks very interesting... However, we've seen so many interesting ideas getting terrible exicution...
Holy shit, he made The Sims Online?
What the fuck happened to that. The Sims Online sounded like the best concept for an MMO ever, especially since it was based on TS1 as opposed to TS2.

>>284761002
SWG was great, no it was better than great, it was exactly what MMOs should strive to be, there were whole planets, space, all the different jobs, martial arts, vast amounts of weapons, so much shit to do so many things to specialize in, languages to learn.
fuck that is everything ive wanted in an mmo, then smedly was like "ey lets try to squeeze more money out of our successful mmo by shitting all over it" and then it died.
It was greed that did it in, SOE was garbage and im glad they are gone, except the issue wasnt the company but the people who worked inside of it.
>>284761002
Which is unfortunate because the game was kick ass for the last three months. Once the devs were let off their leashes to do whatever they wanted for the last couple months they did amazing things.
Like implement atmospheric flight and have it 100% bug free in less than a month.
did the sims online ever work
i remember it shut down so fucking fast
>Executive Producer
How responsible was he for fucking up all those games?
>>284761410
SWG changed because they were terrified by WoW and wanted to emulate it to get those sweet sweet subscribers.
>>284761569
it was good for visiting and setting fire to houses
it was just multiplayer sims, don't see why they can't do that with any new edition of sims, shit would be like being invaded in souls games.
>>284759051
>Ultima online
Thanks to Richard Garriott, not to him.
>Sims online
It was obviously made with the intention of making more shekels out of something that was obviously meant to be a single player game.
>Star wars galaxies
Went to shit
>TOR
Do I even need to tell you?
>Shadowbane
Generic Fantasy MMO RPG
>Wizard101 and pirate 101
A MMO about wizards and pirates. ground-breaking stuff guys, let me tell ya.
>>284761680
Not really at all, Executive Producers set up milestones, manage projects and keep everyone on track and serve as a receptical for feedback and translate that into direction for the dev team. They're also in charge of integrating new features or design methods into the game or maintaining the "purity" of the game by not bogging it down with other features.
With a shitty exec producer you end up with games that have too much bullshit, take too long to complete and feel half assed.
I dont blame SWG at all for crapping up their game, WoW put a gun up to their head.
>>284762283
And as a note they usually get massively hamstrung by publishers. Which was the case in ToR.
One could argue that since ToR is still around despite its shortcomings, that could be seen as some measure of success.
Not that I would advocate ToR as anything but WoW with a star wars skin.
>>284762081
>pirates.
There is literally nothing when it comes to Pirate MMOs.
Looks incredibly boring.
Like, a whole new level of suck.
After all the literal scams that have been funded on Kickstarter, you'd think idiots would start to catch on.
>>284762515
Puzzle Pirates exists.
