d/ic/k here, theres space for improvisation and breaking the rules to get the desired effect for your image. You dont have to sabotage what you want to show just because the "rules say so". See cubism.
Other than that, the art is pure pleb trash, the chromatic aberation and grain is a really cheap trick to make the painfully boring image more 'popping'. If i had the means i'd strangle the cunt as it personaly offends me.

Comic book industry is a bad example.
People make money off literal garbage there sometimes, there's no shortage of examples.
Videogame industry is just as bad.
Making money's not much of a gauge for how viable something is when some people play fast and loose with their pocket change.
That said, stylization is important but there's a divide between using it to make something proper visually enticing and using it to cover up a lack of technical skill.

it isnt the issue of anatomy, its an exagerated camera lens effect. Doesnt matter if the artist indended it consciously or not but its within the space of consistent plausibility within the style. Its nitpicking.
The post process effects is whats the problem. You remove those and the image is boring bland and trash level. Try it on your own art. Leave cyan and red channels move them few pixels appart, add obnoxious noise effects to hide flaws such as poor lineart and youve got a popping image no matter how awfull it was before
Its a fucking hack work thats the worst offender. Do the following steps for any trash image and its ten times more 'artistic'.
The hips being a mile away is within the artists priority whats important for him in that image, just like the googly eyes and the alien face.

Theres times when anatomy is a valid part to critique. And whois to say whats an accident and whats intended in the artists vision. He decides what his image is about. Afcourse that seems like it makes anything immune to critique, but when someone tries to depict something he's not very good at depicting, usually its visable like night and day. In this case a conversation with that person could reveal whats what, otherwise its just guesswork from both sides. Is it not intended, or is it intended. Though my guess taking in the account of the context of the image it is.
All i know is i fucking hate the obnoxious post processing bullshit. Ever since i browsed some cghub-like website and amongst all the fantastic concept art you had the most generic trash like the ops image posted. And then some more and more and more. (wouldnt be surprised it was the same guy). Lens flare 2.0 and i'd shank anyone who abuses it. Its just bad habits.

I don't know what to make about that weird color trick. I can't really be mad at an artist utilizing their tools to their fullest potential, in order to create dynamic imagery. Even if it is a cheap trick, it's pretty good when it's done subtly.

Neither do i. Anime-like images of girls are all about vanity. Theres tons of images showing meshed up perspectives that are borderline impossible, showing tits and ass at the same time with glued two diffrent perspectives. And while that wouldnt fly in reality, it is intended. So it would be asanine to point out the obvious. ( though alot of amateur anime artists arive at the result by copying others without even realising whats going on, which is a shame)
I dont mind the tools used either, as i pointed out where its so subtle you cant tell, but yet still it gives the image very subtle vibrance and sharpness. But fuck me if less experienced people dont jump on the bandwagon so quickly and instead of sharpening their skils, theyre sharpening filters.

OP's image isn't just an intended exaggeration. It's 100% possible in real life. Pic related is about the best I could find on quick notice. But you can see that it would only take her orienting her upper body more to her left in order to replicate the exact pose.
I get what you mean about trends being abused. It is disappointing seeing audiences being fooled by cheap tricks. I just can't work up the ire. But I typically don't care what other people are doing in general. I think of art as illusion anyway. So in my book, it doesn't matter how you fool the eye. So long as the trick works, then you've done what you set out to do. I just hate poor quality because I imagine how the trick will be exposed in time. I don't like bad tricks.

I was looking for some examples of extreme camera lens effects myself, just to show what could be done even in reality. But ultimately its not important as you said visual arts are about alot of things and confining it within what we think is probable would rid of alot of fantastic pieces that have been done. Thats an accurate example aswell. In my book it was never the anatomy as we dont actually see the spine thats being criticised, but convincing that you can extemefy the distances between two parts using particular lenses to get the effect, which is still silly and nitpicky to even bother as it would imply visual arts need to mimic photography.
