If I were looking for a challenge, I would go off and do something else, something that is uniquely me. Beating a super-difficult game is a waste of time, you can find a hundred other schmucks who've done the same. I'd rather spend my time doing something more productive.

If they're talking about the way the levels are laid out then yeah, this is pretty much the one thing that makes sense. Though having a 'Yharnam Swamp' and a "Yharnam Forest' and 'Yharnam Catacombs' isn't really all that different from what DS1 did.

What I take away from this interview is that not only is Miyazaki one of the greatest game developers alive, he's also a god on earth who everyone respects and admires.

Bloodborne is going full open world metroidvania.
The hunter's refuge hub is a simplistic "tutorial" hub to give you a safe haven while you explore the city of yharnam at your liesure
Once you have completed all of yharnam a plot twist happens, hunter's refuge is destroyed, and -the entirety of the city of yharnam- becomes the hub world.
Second half of the game onwards fast travel is completely removed, and Yharnam itself becomes a larger, dangerous nexus. Each section of yharnam (upper yharnam, lower yharnam, etc.) Leads to a "world" a LA demon's souls, as well as having smiths, vendors, covenants, and PvP spread throughout.
In central yharnam inside the cathedral, just like in the center of the nexus, the final boss will be waiting to be unlocked

This guy has a point. Same reason I don't play repetitive grinding games like Dota or MMOs. Same with Dark Souls. It's just trial and error, nothing that makes you think on your feet, just basic trial and error.
Would rather practice on guitar than play those kinds of games.
