Well yeah, before NV pretty much everybody loved FO3. It had an attractive world to explore and was a fun RPG.
But after NV, I honestly can't go back. But to be perfectly honest, after Evil Within and Wolfenstein, I've got a lot of faith in Bethesda to be able to give good enough guidance to the devs to make them deliver. Evil Within is my personal goty and Wolfenstein was extremely enjoyable. In any case I'm cautiously optimistic.

That's not how it works fam.
An engine and game mechanics are completely separate entities.
The engine is just a compilation of tools to get assets and mechanics they make to run.
Fallout and TES have completely different systems for the RPG aspects.
Now I'm not saying Fallout 4 isn't going to be dumbed down, because it is.
It's fucking Bethesda after all, each subsequent game they've made was more idiot proof than the last, but that doesn't mean it being on the same engine means a mechanic from an entirely different series is going to show up.

Also, the PC versions of Skyrim and Fallout weren't all that much better than the 360 versions. All you had was the ability to add mods, which people only used to add weird fucking anime wives and long swords just like their hero Sephiroth-kun. The PS3 versions were shit, anyone will tell you. But they ran incredibly well on MS' hardware because MS helped optimize them. Imagine how great they'll runnas exclusives. I'm pretty excited.

Level-scaling makes for rewardless, unchallenging and monotonous gameplay.
Nothing in Skyrim or Oblivion was even remotely challenging whatsoever. And jacking up the difficulty level is dumb and artificial.
You're supposed to run into monsters that range from easy to impossible every once in a while, not always beatable pushoevers because the level-scaling holds your hand and makes sure every Timmy the 12 year old Xbox player can win so that when his dad asks him "son, are you winning?", he can say "yes daddy I am winning!!"

Ignore that anon. That's not what it says. It's talking about how the game rail-roads you with quests and doesn't allow any freedom. You have to either do it the games way, or not at all.
Two examples:
If you shoot the powder ganger at the beginning after he threatens the town, before you get the quest to deal with the situation, you're vilified. Likewise, if you find the sunken bomber, you can do nothing with it until later on when you have the quest to raise it etc.
Basically, New Vegas is lifeless.
