I have a raging boner for RTS right now and am about to drop dead as all the blood in my body is draining into it.
Whats a good RTS to play?
Preferably something like god tier command and conquer.

If you don't mind a console RTS, Grimgrimoire is pretty good, albeit a bit on the easy side.

those are just the ones off the top of my head
there are also RTT games like men of war and world in conflict you should look into
Supreme Commander 2, it's a direct upgrade from SC1.
What is the game where you have some building that can create these vortex spirals anywhere on the map and destroy anything in them?
Was that command and conquer?

As long as you don't knee jerk at the art style or system exclusivity, this one is surprisingly good once you get in to it.

Depends. Attila Total War is good, but if you're sceptical, I would wait a bit.
Grey Goo is new and isn't anything amazing but isn't bad.
Apart from that I can't honestly think of any recent RTS's that came out that were good or even Rome Total War 2 'good'. Yes, I mean it.
