i just found out theres a monster hunter freedom unite port for ios and ive been playing it on my iphone 6 and holy shit this is actually solid and i actually enjoy playing it. I just got to the first giadrome urgent quest. its been fun so far

This is my first Monster Hunter and its alot of fun
but man, this egg mission drives me fucking nuts
So should I upgrade to the Bone Glaive or forge the Stealth Glaive now? Is it better to just stay with one weapon the whole game and just upgrade it?

Managed to talk my friend into getting the game finally.
He asked me what the fuck torches were for and why it kept giving torches in the supply boxes. So I figured it's something that I ought to tell everybody here.
Torches scare small monsters and mesmerize small insect monsters (and make Lynians dance). If you pull out a torch, things like Jaggis and Genprey will leave you the fuck alone, and if you bop them with it they will cower in fear, bop them again and they will run away and despawn. If you hold R while holding a torch you are able to use gathering points, pickaxes, bug nets, and your carving knife, allowing you to harvest in peace without getting harassed by raptors n' shit.

Is Insect Glaive OP as fuck or are the monsters simply easier to kill? I used to take a fair while in Tri to kill monsters but now it takes about 10 minutes max. Just started doing High rank quests and apart from them hitting harder, they're still relatively quick to beat.

Is there any reason to use traps while free hunting? I know during quests you get better rewards at the end, but does it work like that when you're not on a quest somehow?

Monster Hunter is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Monster Hunter requires.
This is why Monster Hunter threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.
Conversely, the only people who don't like Monster Hunter clearly don't have the skills to handle its depth. It is too hardcore for them. That's okay though. Games like Halo exist for people like them. Monster Hunter fans are too good to hold grudges.

I'm only halfway through village 4*, and so far I found that nersyclla is crazy. The movement is so erratic, I like how they got a spider down perfectly.
Difficult fight using a GS at least, hard to predict where it's going to go.

He's probably one of the toughest on Melee. Magala was painfully easy once you figured out his patterns, but the spider is just so erratic and fast moving its hard to get and stay on him.

Dung Bombs will make a monster leave the zone, so you can use it for some 1v1 time with a wimpy monster.
They tend to try and stick together though, so you probably won't get long

The two Nerscylla one was really easy. Beat and captured them both with my Rathalos head hammer.
Made it to Dundorma today. I could really use new armor but I'm not sure what to get, I'm still using tetsu armor. I was thinking about going for the hermitaur armor but I don't know if that's a good idea.

It sounds worse than it actually is. Every time you have more monsters on a quest, their HP is divided between them. You can also keep them separated by bringing dung bombs if the other intrudes on your present fight.
Tough it up and just slam your dick into it, you can do it anon.
Why does Solo feel so much easier than online?
Are monsters stronger? Me and 1 buddy are usually working pretty hard online, but solo I'm destroying shit.

they're typically a little smaller in dual hunt quests so it's not as difficult as fighting normal/big ones
for egg quests just get the Loc Lac armor or something else with transporting and kill the small mobs like the babby dinosaurs so they don't respawn
