Purple would look silly for an electronic system and gold IS the iconic Zelda color so there's nothing wrong with using it. I don't really like the mask in the middle but the corners are great and very interesting because it references the different masks in the game and resembles the stylized borders of old story books which is kind of how Zelda stories are. Overall the design is simplistic though, one central image and a border.

It just has C stick support for moving the camera freely.
There's really only a minor difference between the old 3DS XL and New 3DS XL. If you don't have one, the New 3DS is worth the extra 25 dollars compared to the old 3DS XL.
