Hey /v/, I just buried my cat (He was 21, same age as me and has been around my entire life) and I need something to keep my mind off of it. I was handling it well until I had to move the body and bury him.

What games can you recommend that require enough attention to keep me occupied?

Fuck OP. I'm don't think i'll handle this with my cat. I don't know about you, but Fallout 3/NV makes days pass by in seconds.

Now that that shitty animal is in the ground where it belongs, you can get a dog.

I always thought I'd be able to handle it pretty well, I've dealt with a bunch of relatives dying and been fine, but when I had to pick him up and carry him out I lost it.

I might actually get back into Fallout, thanks.

>>284064586
Sorry for your loss, OP. I'm thinking with orror about the day this will happen to myself.

Maybe give The Evil Within a try. I literally got sucked into that game and it's nicely morbid. You don't want to play a cheerful game when your cat kicked the bucket, do you?
>>
>>284065717

Considering somebody got my PSN account details and bought Evil Within for the full digital price a while back (it was like 50 quid, what the fuck), I guess this might be a good time to make use of it.

Sorry OP.
I lost my 15 year old dog the other day. It's always hard losing a pet. Play a game that makes you happy. I usually play Banjo or Mario World to feel better when I'm down.

Also everyone else, please do not bully OP.

That's funny, I had to crawl under my house and kill 3 of those fuckers because a female in heat crawled underneath and was meowing nonstop attracting tomcats from all over the neighborhood that kept me up all night fighting over who gets to fuck her. All I had was a pellet rifle so I had to stomp their heads after to put then out of their misery. Spay and neuter your pets please, it was fucking brutal having to get rid of those pests.

Thanks, yeah I knew I'd get a few trolly/edgy comments but what else can you expect when you make a thread here.

I feel a lot better after reading the responses like your own though, I don't really know anyone in real life who'd be genuinely sympathetic so I really do appreciate it.

Anyway, try playing some happy stuff. Paper Mario, Kirby, Chibi-Robo, etc.

We have plenty of hawks in the area for that. The other day a cute little hawk was sitting on my fence so I threw a hotdog at it, which it picked up and flew away with.

/v/ is full of people who try to be edgy for no reason. Making threads like this usually isn't a good idea because everyone will just be an asshole and make you feel worse.

Either way, I hope you feel better, bro.

Sorry to hear OP. I know another pet can never replace a missed loved one but for what its worth it does get easier than the first time you lose a pet. Just dont let the sadness overwhelm you and turn you off from wanting more pets down the road.

I've lost 2 cats and a dog at this point along with hamsters and fish if you count those. Have 2 dogs now and I try not to think about it but no they won't be around forever. Its always tough dont get me wrong but it gets easier to deal with the older you get. The concept of death is something many dont even fully grasp until late adolescents/early adulthood. Just be glad you had him as long as you did and reflect on the good memories.

As for what to play I've heard Katamari is a game that picks you up when feeling down. Ive never played it but ive heard this many times here.

Keep it up man. I never lost a pet (I have a dachshund), but my gf lost a cat (he got ran over by a car) and I know what it's like. You'll make it.

Play Castle Crashers, it has good humour.

At least there is the few like us. Dying pets are no laughing matter.
>>
>>284068756

The negative comments genuinely don't bother me, it's more of a "why would you bother to write that" rather than feeling offended. I'm more surprised that people decided to respond positively at all, those responses have been far more common.

I'd rather feel thankful towards those of you that have given kinds words rather than get offended at the other shit.

>>284068972

Thanks you, I doubt I'll be getting another pet for some time now, but I'm sure it will be something I consider in the future.

I've dealt with death before in the family, but I felt far closer to my cat than I did with any of those relatives so this hit me harder.

i felt like really shitty when my cat ran away from home, talking about it with people online made me feel a little better about it... luckily we found her 3 days later, she's 19 year old so i guess she has 2-3 years more at top

Fuck yeah ghost trick.

>talking about it with people online made me feel a little better about it

Yeah, I don't really have anyone I can talk to in real life about this kind of thing, so it's nice to be able to come here and just let it all out.

I actually feel a ton better already thanks to it, I know it's not particularly board related but I'd like to thank everyone for accommodating my selfishness.

>>284070462
Just be sure to stick with it through the sadder parts, to the end. No, seriously, stick with the story to the end. And stop trying to read spoilers about the game; you'll ruin it for yourself.

Im not even a cat person but its gonna jack me up my cat dies. It's an outdoor cat that just kind of showed uo, and is always trying to get inside (i let it in when its cold to chill out sometimes and let it sleep in the garage), but I'll miss the hell out of that thing
>>
>>284069790
Yeah I feel you man. I had dealt with death in the family too but when we had to put down my dog it was awful. I still remember the last time moment I had alone with him. Couldn't even go with my parents to put him down cause it was too heartbreaking. I was probably 15 at the time. 24 now and still have a vivid memory of it all. Bringing myself to the verge of tears just remembering it.

Anyway point is it'll just get easier. I lost my cat after that who was actually my first pet we had even longer than the dog and it wasn't as horrible as an experience. Still bad but you've been through it so you know what to expect.

Looking back through pictures always makes me feel better but at first it may be too hard. 21 is incredible for a cat though. Just remember the good times and know he lived a long fulfilled life with an owner who truly loved him.

Also seeing a lot of people suggesting dark games to play. I can see how one may want to play something morbid at a time like this but I also think that may just bring out even more negative emotions. This all coming from a huge fan of horror games/movies. I personally would go with something bright and uplifting like mario sunshine, banjo kazooie, or even Journey. Also Katamari does really seem to work. Like ive said I never played it but ive seen people bring it up time and time again for when your feeling down. Just lookup gameplay videos and see if it looks like something you can get lost in.
