So does anyone who actually plays video games as a regular pastime. I like action games which are almost necessarily violent. It's just a preference, not a crime.
And I'd love it if games were taken as seriously as film and other "art forms" but promoting games as art often just means promoting a lack of focus on gameplay, in favor of "story" and other shit to pander to non-gamers who wouldn't even care if the gameplay were removed entirely. Most developers still haven't figured out that GOOD GAME DESIGN is an art form, and instead focus on visuals and a mediocre story to fill that "art" requirement. If your game would not suffer from the removal of gameplay, it might as well be a movie, and yeah it might be "art" but it's a shitty example of the "video game as art" and shouldn't be what the industry strives for.
If you want games to be art, look at Tetris, not The Order 1886. Video games will never be recognized as an art form if the way to make them more like art is to make them less like games.
