Pink Rathian was a cunt in MH3U. I had to fucking slay Purple Ludroth and make an amor out of them to defeat her, because with my Low Rank Lagiacrus Armor I was being 3-shot'd

And speaking of armors, I got MH4U today, and just received the Kecha Wacha quest. I don't want to tackle it before getting a decent armor set (current I have Jaggi pants and arm guards, and the rest is beginning gear with some armor spheres thrown in)

What armor sets should I aim for right now?

Velocidrome is a great starting armor. You can gem it up to Attack Up (M) and Detect / Autotracker, plus I think it halves stun and has no negatives. Should last you all of LR.
