It's almost guaranteed to be good. Those weapon designs are amazing. I hate to say it, but they're so much better than weapons in other souls games.
Dark Siuls had weapons that fit into some category, like swords, or axes. They all pretty much had the same moveset too. But Bloodborne has 5 weapons shown already that have completely different movesets.

It does, you have to keep pads on hand or you lose blood (the exp of this game) through your 'moon flow'. If you keep them on long enough they become a consumable item that gives you extra blood.
