Does anyone else here love Naval warfare games? Battlestations, World of Warships, warthunder, silent hunter, etc?

What are your favorite ship classes and what have you been playing lately?

I'm hoping for more news on WoW. Looks absolutely amazing even though CVs seem completely broken which, I guess though, is historically accurate.

Super-Carriers are really just US tactics, everywhere else has regular sized carriers.

Its pretty heavily air and missile based.
You'd be correct in the most important part is trying to shoot down everything.
But traditional guns still have their place.
Subs can play a big role depending on the situation too.

Dangerous Waters is pretty fucking great, basically a modern-day Silent Hunter where you can also play as a submarine-hunter frigate or aircraft.

It's developed by a company that sells sonars for the US navy so you get some really fun sonar-using gameplay.

I have a question: Do ships have "models", or are they all built custom? And I'm not only talking about war ships, but general ships like huge cargo ones. Even in wikipedia you only see their names, but no manufacturer/model. Of course this doesn't apply to small recreational boats.
>>
>>283935426
Ship have classes.
>>
Oh yeah, almost forgot, if you're like >>283931372 and cant afford CMANO, Global Conflict Blue will do you well.
>>283935426

3 or 4 depending on whether you want german or US subs.

>>
>>283935097
Are they still using Bigworld engine for WoW? the only way i could run WoT was by turning everything off and reduce the draw distance to a minimum. While in War Thunder anything but cinematic look gorgeous and runs smoothly.
>>
>>283936329
>3 or 4 depending on whether you want german or US subs.

One of the reasons I think 3 is the best SH game is the progression. While you get better upgrades / ships as time goes on, your enemies do too, and they will pull ahead of you. You're almost guaranteed to die at some point as everything becomes more desperate and almost everything becomes a suicide mission.

It's pretty cool and accurate in that way.

One that had potential was Infinite Space but the execution and rock paper scissors range out-range you combat was just lacking. I hope someone tries again with that formula. The idea of exploring into the unknowns of space visititing different planets and combatting different threats with your custom space battleship fleet filled with crew that you met or picked up from the various places you visited that can each contribute to the overall mission/craft. That's like my dream vidya.

My biggest problem Jingles has indicated in that video is that they haven't implemented some form of Matchmaking, you can join a match 5 minutes from a lose or win.

Or there can be a 5v3 going on.

If I had a dedicated group of buddies to play with, I'd jump all over it. And just play -only- when they're online.

Nukes are last resort.

If we had a WWIII(Lets suppose China against US, Europe Against Russia), the belligerents would want to defeat the enemy with less causalities as possible because of the economy(We wouldn't nuke oil, gas fields). The chances of anyone using strategic nukes are really small, we have really good anti nuke system these days, we would see the use of small tactical ones used against tactical targets.

There would be conventional warfare, Nukes are a thing of the cold war.

This just reminded me of another huge HUGE difference that I saw in pacific vs midway and could impact the way you like to play.

In Midway, planes from CVs were highly realistic, they'd all carry a single bomb or torpedo, whatever you armed it with. After dropping their payload, they would be freshout and you could either use them to sortie or bring the back, land, resupply, and relaunch.

In Pacific, planes would be the same except after dropping their payload, there was a "cooldown" timer during after your bombs/torps would come back so you didn't need to bring them back to land/resupply/relaunch. making for faster more arcadey similar to BF1942 like gameplay.

Course in midway, many people just plunged their aircraft into the water after delivering their payloads so they could rush out the next armed squadron immediately without waiting for the planes to come back and land and all that.

World of warships would be good, but the masts are like, 200 fucking meters tall, so you can look over god damn mountain ridges
anything wargaming puts out usually disappoints though.

It's like a vacation when compared to the Battle of Atlantic.

Nuclear powers just can't engage in any sort of conventional warfare with one another.

If you've got the sort of ideological clash strong enough to trigger a war between the major powers you've got the conditions for a strategic nuclear strike.

If you're not willing to launch you'd never even go to war, you'd back down beforehand and give in to whatever the aggressor was demanding.

There'd be so much who would kill themselves too or just fight to the death.

Surrender most likely.

It would be hard, since a LOT of US civilians had guns.

There's some proverb about it too, like grasses and shit.

How the fuck do those surface guns even work? Do they get retracted before diving?

no doubt, even with a massive bombardment, those fuckers were crazy and they were dug in like an alabama tick

In Midway people would just crash the planes into ships after they drop the bombs and torpedoes.

No retracting. I'd guess they survive diving the same way guns on other ships survive storms.
