Both games are about combat, one is deep as fuck and has an incredibly high skill ceiling with monsters having like 20 moves, about four different modes that affect those moves they can combo into everything, the other one wants you to walk through corridors, lock on enemies and circle around them while waiting for an opening, also no use of level design or environments at all.
It really is kinda annoying how overhyped Souls is.

When you do certain attack with CB it will automatically block, those are guard points.
When you boost your shield, it will also release a phial burst for free if you block with a guard point. Doesn't work with a regular block.

You can keyboard chat but only in lobby. You can only use pre-assembled shout outs in quests.
But I think you can customize them to your need before quests. You can also change your actual shout outs when things happen (getting carted, mounting, getting hit with dizzy/sleep) or even turn them off.
I make sure my mount shout is something along the lines of "don't attack me because you'll knock me off and waste an opportunity for actual free attacks dumbasses". Paraphrased into the character limit anyways.

during certain points of certain charge blade animations if your shield is charged (X > X+A >X+A > L to charge the shield) and the monster hits you, you will block the attack and counter with an explosion to its face automagically.
