Protag gets buttloads of Personas and potential skills anyway; it really doesn't hurt to have one with Mediarahan or something just in case you take a huge hit and Yukiko's turn is too long to wait for a heal. That's the strength of Protag, he's not just great at DPS, he's great at ANYTHING.

Nope, played it on normal and openly faced red shadows. Like 80 of enemies in the game have a weakness to one of the 4 elements or instakills. After you accumulate some personas on your mc, its fucking easy mode.

Works fine as far as I can tell but I'm guessing it depends on the game. For some games you can tell that it wasn't designed for widescreen like in Persona 3 you can sometimes see characters walking in place off to the side of the screen where the borders would be in 4:3 mode. Not a really big deal though since it doesn't affect the functionality of the game itself

All new gameplay systems imbalance the game. All of the new writing is shitty fanfic tier plot on the same tier as Arena and Shadow of the Labyrinth. The new stuff detracts from the balance and writing of the original existing stuff overall. The original creators of P4 said they achieved their vision for the game and didn't want to do a FES because the game was complete and they were happy with it. Golden is just a shameless cash-cow re-release with no integrity.

I disagree, the expanded events are all silly and super fanservicey in the way Arena and Shadow of the Labyrinth are. They don't fit into the game well and as a result they detract from the cohesiveness of the writing. Overall the plot and characters are worsened by the presence of the new scenes.

Just deal with it and learn to adapt to your new personas. It's all part of the gameplay; get too complacent in your current setup and you fall behind.
You can also cancel fusions over and over in the hopes that the new one will inherit a skill you like, but that's not reliable.

Tentarafoo is mildly useful in P4 classic, since it's kinda harder to level up.
Wind Break is ACTUALLY useful in P4G for farming treasure hands for oodles of delicious exp in Rise's dungeon.
Regardless, at THAT level, both skills are completely fucking useless.
If you really need a mass status spell, MC should have a better source of them with status boost on a persona.
The purpose of your allies in P4 is extra damage, buff/debuff, item usage, and to take hama/mudo hits for you.

Marie ruined the game.
The ending goes from facing the controlling force of the collective unconscious, freeing the city from a deity's control, and then a remorseful goodbye to all the people who's lives you touched.
In golden the plot changes around a Mary sue who is forced cringeworthy into the plot, who unbalances the focus of the murder and cause of everything, and then turns out to be able to take the reigns from the goddess you defeated despite just being a creation of hers to forever watch over you and your friends. Fulfilling your desires and being in love with you.
Its a Major cop out to the theme of facing harsh truths and accepting things but growing from them. If Marie never happened, p4 storyline might not have been so fucked. But we all know thanks to the shit stories of Q and arena that its canon.

I could not disagree more, there was a significant drop in quality. I mean we could get into the specific details and discuss things like how Kanji is an excellently written character and the original writers handled his struggle with his sexuality effectively and tastefully, but in Golden they just use it as a joke at literally every opportunity they can and even have lines about him wanting to rub your abs. But that's not going to be very constructive. Really the fact that the new writers were unable to achieve the same depth with the characters and just picked that one thing they're known for and exaggerated it to an absurd degree just spoils the game and it's the same problem with Arena and Q. The characters are just exaggerated caricatures of themselves with none of the depth or detail of vanilla P4.
I really hope for P5 they make Persona evolutions and character growth tied to the main story, and the Slinks just more backstory for the characters again.

compared to the Slink writing of course they are lower quality, but when compared to the other vanilla events of the party just having fun, they are exactly the same, because these events don't aim to be deep or constructive in any way, its just the player and his friends having fun doing something
Arena is exaggerated because its a fighting game, which being exaggerated is good, and they lay a lot with that, have you seen the title cards for each character in Ultimax? they are just jokes about the characters, and they even joke with Yu and Marie which one barely has a defined personality due to being the self insert MC, and the other being the Atlus precious new OC character
Q is about caricatures, the art style should tell you that already, also the fact that Atlus says its cannon, but it affects nothing in P3 and P4 because "they forget" should also tell you to not take Q seriously at all
with that said, cant wait to see what is the story gonna be in Dancing all night and how they will make not only a rhythm game have a plot, but also connect it somehow to the persona universe
