In Spain they show a lot of Japanese cartoons (not strictly generic anime) and I always loved the way Japan was shown. I never really watched or followed an anime in my teens like most people who have a hardon for Japan did, but I guess I was influenced by cartoons too.
But overall I just love how it was in the 70s-80s-90s with it's US influences and their improvements on it but without losing their unique way of living and traditions or style. There's a charm about Japan I can't explain. They seem so alien and racist but at the same time they admire the west and try to copy us. They have a great sense of humor and overall are just great at everything they do, whether it be media, cars, vidya technology, etc.
