I would avoid 3, though. It's not particularly grindy, but the game has deeper problems. The developers had all sorts of cool, innovative ideas they wanted to try out in PS3, and they failed to implement a single one of them well. The game is a mess.

1 was 8-bit, and pretty advanced for an 8bit RPG.
2 on the other hand, was rather crude for a 16bit RPG but it was released early in the Genesis' lifespan.
3 was just a mess.
4 is great. I wish someone would take the other 3 PS games and remake them using 4's combat engine and assets.

I thought Coral's Mother[brain] was completed after Pionner 2 left the planet, as a special AI that would find a way to fix Coral's environment problems, because Pionner project wasn't planning to "save" the whole population, and I think the communication between Coral and Pionner 2 was lost during PSO's storyline so the project (was a way to find another planet to live) was a failure. Shit, I need to replay PSZ too.

If you sell all your stuff at the beginning of the game before you get tossed in prison in PS3, you can afford a Telepipe. The Telepipe is an item that teleports you out of a dungeon. If you use the TP in the prison sequence, you instead get teleported to a special room where you're told it's usually a good idea but doing it where you did broke the game script and you have to reset.
