I felt quite the opposite. I died a lot from bullshit like bad camera disorienting me and disrupting my party directions.
Also manual direction of cutting felt clunky. It made the final fight frustrating, and that wasn't from genuine challenge. As an action game, I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden more.

It's kind of perfectly rated.
It's a good game that has a fuckton of serious flaws.
As such there's plenty of people who really like it and plenty of people who couldn't get into it and that's ok.
If they iron out the kinks in the sequel it could be a really amazing game.MGS4 fags who cried over it ruining MGS need to get their heads checked.

It's strange that a lot of the issues would be partially alleviated by the manual camera being like 3 times quicker. I didn't find cutting that bad, though I often aimed more with the left stick after setting a even horizontal or vertical level and used x to cut rather than the stick.

In Angry Joe's review he showed this trick where if you just constantly keep flicking the analog stick and keep pressing the attack button nothing can touch you. Kinda sucks because ever since then game seems broken to me. When the game gets too hard Im always tempted to use that trick, counter every move and unleash fury on them. Even on the hardest difficulties this trick works on almost every enemy.

But that isn't a trick. You can parry anything in the game besides yellow grab attacks and projectiles.
ANYTHING. Monsoon's trash wheel, MG Ray and Excelsior's arm-blades. And you can cancel out of most attack animations to parry.

Yeah, but the main idea behind parrying was reading your enemies moves, and parrying when appropriate.
Doing the trick makes you not have to worry about any of that. You just attack the enemy nonstop and when any enemy attacks you, you automatically parry without having to think about it.

I feel that MGR nailed the "cinematic" feel that so many games with much less substantial gameplay go for. The whole thing feels like an action movie. The only complaint I really had was that it was a bit too short.
I truly believe that people who don't like MGR hate fun.
