It really sucks that so much was lost. I mean, Ian had been working to fix that trainwreck and spruce up the old characters and tie up plots and then it all just gets flushed. He was doing some good work with Ken's old shit, in particular I really wanted to see where he was going with Geoffrey and the echidnas. Still, that isn't the worst part.
The worst bit is all the collateral damage. They purged everything, including stuff that wasn't at all Penders'. Mogul, Finitevus, The Destructix and so on. Characters that would propably work even better in this new world but the autism of one manchild had to ruin everyone's fun. And for what? His Lara-su Chronicles that's garanteed to be as big a seller as his "The Lost Ones"? I'm still butthurt about the whole thing.

They didn't cancel any of their reprint books and I wish people wouldn't spread dumb bullshit like this.
Select went on a two year hiatus after the first book because they weren't sure what to collect and how to collect it after it ended up selling better than expected. It's going on another hiatus now because they're entirely out of material to shove into them anymore.
Legacy is going on hiatus because another yearly release would cause it to overtake the Archives and cannibalize its sales. The original plan with Legacy, according to Paul, was to spin it off to different properties like Knuckles, so you would have had a Knuckles Legacy or two to fill the void while the Archives created another gap between itself and Sonic Legacy. Since they've probably reached an agreement with Penders where he gets money for Knuckles reprints, they probably don't want to do that shit anymore, so you get a hiatus instead.
Knuckles Archives has been delayed to hell and back and we have no real understanding why, but it's most likely an issue of Archie trying to figure out the most cost effective way to publish the damn thing.
Everything else has been reprinted as it always has, just at a slightly slower pace due to company wide printing hiccups.
