These. Xbox exclusives were few and far between, but they were fucking great.
Add to it the best version of every console exclusive multiplat of the 6th gen and you've got a great console.
The system was technically pretty impressive, the online was far beyond anything the rivals had and some of the exclusives were pretty damn nice. Too bad it became mostly known as the Halo box, and the already niche exclusives became downright obscure

If I remember correctly, it didn't do much other than let you use your console for multimedia applications (which, as a 6th gen console, it wasn't very good at) and obfuscate the need for memory cards. There wasn't really a need for HDDs in consoles back then.

The exclusives at the time. There's a shit load of fucking awesome niche games from Japan, especially from Sega, whom they had a good relationship. It was almost going to have Dreamcast compatibility.
And they made the first workable, streamline console internet service.
And much like the 360 and unlike the Bone, they had the better multiplatforms in terms of performance.

Well, good variety of games from east and west, pushed internal harddrives in a time when that was uncommon but still supported portable memory cards for taking basic save files to your friends houses, 4 player multiplayer as well as up to 16 LAN with System Link. Tried to provide a robust online service, which at the time was probably worth the fee but no longer is. Also typically always had the best multiplatform ports since it was the strongest hardware wise, despite that gen being the last gen where all 3 systems were about on par with each other in that department. Also easy modding
Overall a neat little (lol) system. I love collecting for the thing because no one does. The most expensive/rare games won't run you more than 40-60 if you're only online, usually you can go to a local flea market and guys won't give a shit because no one gives a shit about original Xbox, got myself Starwars Battlefront 2 and Conker for about 5$ a piece hunting through flea markets
