The characters are great as are some moments, the whole story may be a bit confusing, but still revarding at times. There's a lot of politics involced, it may be not for everyone. It's certainly worth playing twice, on each path, one of them should suit you. After two playthroughs I'd say the Iorveth one is better storywise, it starts like shit but gets better, like a polar oposite of Roche option, but it'll be best if you'll find out yourself.

Not really long. 30-35 hours, but it's really meant to be replayed at least once and even then you'll miss some choices because there are more options than two. Important things to know are: trust no one completely and everyone has an agenda of their own.
I really, really hope tw3 will have a lot of tw1 tier moments.
That is moments where the pace of the story kinda slows down and gives you time to really delve into the world. Including fun-tier quests like getting wasted with your buddies and doing crazy shit with strangers. Like getting back Dandelion's lute by beating up the father of the girl he was banging, then ploughing her yourself - or the quest where you get a knight with a vow of silence so drunk he starts blabbering.
This was my absolute favorite thing in the first one.

Roche's path seems the most "canon" or logical to me in terms of what I think Geralt would've done. But while Roche is a bro, the outcome on that path is just so fucking grim.
Which is why I'm considering Iorveth's path as you spend most of the time chilling with dorf bros and making sure that asshole Henselt doesn't see them all executed.
Still not decided though.
I bought the first Witcher game from last year's steam winter sale and played it only for like 30 minutes and dropped it because it felt boring. I now gave it a new chance and goddamn this game is cool. Really complex though, there's a shitload of menus and everything.
Already 10 hours in and it has been pretty nice. Gonna get Witcher 2 when the price goes super low again.
