FE12's problem is that they make it even worse, a lot of the promoted units have extremely poor stats for their level, take away their promoted class bases from their stats and a lot of them start weaker than a number of unpromoted characters do.

He always seemed fairly close to the secondary caretakers to me, but that got fucked. The abloo abloo Lucinafriend was kind of obnoxious.
The only point against is that he was stable once he got to Fianna (8-10 years?) and that Finn always managed to keep him food.
Lucina's timeline is just plain weird though. Chrom dies whilst she was a baby, yet somehow taught her how to fight, but having her mum, and the parents of the remaining kids never returning one by one is a downer.
Especially if you do FrederickxTharja, where she goes full Noah Tim Portant after Frederick's death
