The point is: Videogames have mostly been an unrestricted and boundry pushing platform, with the growing popularity of vidya however we get all kinds of "politically correct" games with a deep plot and moral. What it boils down to is Valve and Steam is in the position Diamond Comics Distributors were in with the Comics Code. Did the code technically make it illegal to print violent, drug, zombie content? No. You could still make magazines or run without the stamp. But if you did, Diamond wouldn't carry you. And if Diamond didn't carry you, you weren't going to reach the market. And if you couldn't reach the market, you couldn't sell.

People don't understand that censorship can take many forms, be it government mandated, or using social media to discredit individuals making challenging content so they'll never get work again.
What happened here:
Polish devs, whatever their name is, marketed their game aggressively, playing on controversy.
Media took the bait and shilled against them. Valve decided that in light of potential bad press coverage, a controversial, but small indie game isn't worth risking bad press that could damage their brand. Since their job is to make money, for which they need a clear brand, that's a sensible move. A damaged brand costs in the long run far more than the sales of one small title would bring in.
Hence, they pulled the game soon after it was submitted. Now people seem to be under the impression that Valve ever had anything but making money in mind, and call censorship, instead of complaining about those that caused it in the first press (the media, using their publishing power) or organizing a counter campaign (to negate the power of the media, put them in their place and signal Valve that their userbase is more dangerous to their brand and income than the media).
In short,
