I know ASB was "2.5D" with side-stepping, and it was probably one of the most amateur attempts at a fighting game, but it still had potential and I was proud of CC2 to at least try to make a combat system with a little more thought put into it than their Naruto button mashers.
Now I feel like they gave up on trying to make a decent fighting game. But who knows, we'll see what it's like soon.
