Sup. Nah, I don't think that game makes yours irrelevant. They both seem to share only small elements, and while both games appeal to a similar crowd, playing one wouldn't really give you the experience of the other.
I've got the feeling Yandere Sim would be split in half in regards to greenlighting. After all, it has a much softer and less edgy look to it. I'm sure plenty of people would strongly complain against the whole premise of the game though. Compared to Hatred, which actively seeks out a shock factor, you won't get nearly as much backlash. Some coverage, probably, but nothing outrageous.
Tried out the demo, looks neat, though it runs in the low teens framerate on my laptop. Not that big of a surprise honestly. Keep up the good work, always looking forward to your updates.

I can see where you're coming from with the Hatred thing, but as long as you don't put out any trailer that involves Yandere-chan dismembering Childhood Friend-tan and jamming her into the incenerator, then it shouldn't drum up too much controversy, probably GTA or Hitman-tier and that's about it.
The environment looks pretty good so far, I'm enjoying the way the student AI and Senpai behavior is looking, and lore always gets me invested. I'll admit, wasn't a fan of the last update's cutscene, but I don't think that necessarily means the story should be rethought, and while cutscenes do take a shitload of work, you can always save that as the gloss after finishing core gameplay; still images aren't a bad idea if done correctly, Ken's Rage 2 for example had that "manga feel" in its still image scenes, and then it animated the models in certain still panels and shit got intense.

I guess it wouldn't be too far behind the PC version. One of Unity's greatest strengths is the ability to export to any platform with almost no changes to code. In a best-case scenario, I'd just have to throw in some code to trigger some Trophy pop-ups instead of Steam Achievement pop-ups.

It all depends on the quality of the end product and how much money was sunk into it.
There are currently some very cool people volunteering to help with the game for free, but I don't know if they will still be available to help me in the future - they might get busy with a new job, or school work, or a different game project, etc. Although I'm getting some free help right now, it's possible that in the future I may need to pay artists and modellers to make the assets I need. There are also a lot of assets that NOBODY is volunteering to make, such as the hundreds of 3D animations that this game will need.
If I can get everything I need to finish the game absolutely for free, then I couldn't justify charging a lot of money for the game. The price would be around $5, just so I could get something in return for the hundreds of hours I spent working on it.
If I never get the assets that I need, and the "finished" game is a bare-bones minimalist piece of crap with shitty production values and tons of missing assets, I wouldn't dare charge a cent for it; it would be free (and nobody would want it anyway).
If I make a crowd-funding campaign, the game is successfully funded, and I get enough money to pay artists to make production-quality assets for the game, then I could stop being a freelance programmer and focus 100% on developing the game. I'd probably charge something like $10 for the game, just to make up for what I could have been making if I'd kept my day job.
If the crowd-funding campaign fails and I decided to fund the game by dipping into my own personal savings, I'd have to charge $15 ~ $20 for the game in order to make back the money that I personally lost.
TLDR: I want to give the game as low of a price as possible, just enough to make back any money I lost while working on it, or make up for the money I would have made if I had been working a full-time job instead of developing this game.

Swapping costumes is really trivial to implement, it all depends on whether or not I can get some to model and rig them for me. The character pack I'm using comes with multiple types of uniforms, casual clothing, and a school swimsuit, but anything beyond that would have to be custom-modeled just for the game by a generous volunteer modeller, or paid for by Kickstarter donations.

I'm really afraid of that happening, actually.
I'm visiting my family for the holidays for the rest of December, and I will be getting a room-mate starting in January, so my progress may be slow while I spend time with my folks and acclimate to having a room-mate.
Over the next 2 months, I will definitely appear to be making less progress than normal because of the holidays and new room-mate. I really hope that the donators don't get pissed at me, and think that I got lazy as soon as I started getting money.
I should be returning to my normal pace of work in mid February when the room-mate moves out.

I prefer to be the sole programmer on a project, because in my past experience, working on a game gets exponentially more complicated the more programmers are added. I know there are solutions, like source-control for the code and blackboxing code, but I still prefer to do things solo.

I think that non-lethal runs may be easier than lethal runs. Some of the planned ways to non-lethally dispose of a girl are...
1. Frame her for one of your crimes, get her arrested.
2. Frame her for breaking school rules, get her expelled.
3. Convince the rest of the girls to bully her until she stays home from school, and/or commits suicide.
4. Find out who else in the school she has a crush on, and set her up with that boy instead.
5. Knock her out, kidnap her and keep her prisoner in your home.
6. Trick Senpai into hating her.
Most of this involves talking to students to spread rumors, planting evidence, stealing things, taking pictures at the most opportune time, etc. Less "tools", more theft and trespassing and spying and stalking and social sabotage.
