Taris is pretty comfy, and I always liked going through all the different apartments/bounty areas. The extreme negative was going through the sewers and the fucking rakghouls with poison.
Peragus was awesome only the first or second times you go through because the only appealing factor is solving the mystery. On your third+ play through you immediately want to skip it and get to a town with characters in it.

No, the majority of the EU was terrible. KOTOR 1&2 were nice, but they were set so they didn't have much a all to do with the movies. I also have fond memories of Jedi Academy and Dark Forces II.
