I think Half-Life 2 and Portal 2 are my most replayed game with three replays. I'd rather enjoy a new experience than replay an old game, especially if its mechanics have aged badly.

I've beaten Fusion at least eight or nine times.

Well I'm more of a story oriented player so if I've played through Planescape: Torment or The Longest Journey or Beyond Good & Evil once I don't really see much point in doing it again.
>>
>>274684186

I like beating my in-game time. I've got it down to under an hour and a half.

I'm also still finding secrets. The second E-tank, for example, is absurdly hard to find without help, and I'm still not done finding all of them.
>>
Suikoden 1 and 2. Great storys and are of a digestible length.
>>
>>274683636
I'm in the same boat. I played wind waker 3 times on GCN, and once on wiiU. There are a handful of other games I've played through twice.

now, multiplayer games like cel damage, melee, street fighter, air ride, I play those regularly. and spider-man 2. But I don't play the main story in that, just dick around post-game.

I even love the missions before you get your lightsaber.

Dunno why but I love the shit outta that game.
>>
>>274684940
Yeah, I agree. This is why I think focusing on story in video games is a major flaw.

The kind of replayability that every game developer should try to achieve is the natural one: wanting to replay a game because you loved the shit out of it and you know you only scratched the surface in one playthrough. This is why I like short games like Star Fox 64, which was mentioned in the thread already. There is always something new to learn because everything happens so fast, yet everything was just so polished and good.

How the fuck can you beat it in less than an hour and a half? It takes longer than that just to run around
>>
>>274687115

That's what the in-game timer reads on my save file. I think it pauses during all the cutscenes and nav room conversations.

In reality it's most likely significantly longer. I've never timed myself on a clock but I can easily beat it in one sitting.

It doesn't matter unless you're into game development. Watching speedruns can help you notice obvious glitches/bugs that you should try to recreate. It's more awareness than anything.

The point of a game is to have fun. If it's turning into a job, that's a problem.

Like I've put more hours into this one series than nearly all other games I've played somehow. Replayed 6,7,8,9,10 at least 3 times each. 13 twice. 4 once and I'm waiting on the patch to replay 4 and play 5

I especially love the missions before you get your lightsaber. The saber makes it a cakewalk apart from saber fights. Guns against guns is far more challenging.
>>
>>274690716
Fusion has an interesting amount of replay value, from 1% challenges to routes to "clean up" (getting 100% items). Too bad the walls of text make the game very tedious.

>>
>>274691175

There's no sequence breaking. There's only 3 kinds of runs really; 100%, any% or 1%.
Each one of them is fun, though. Even though Nightmare on the 1% run was disasterous.

>>
>>274691743
The appeal of Metroid games is the time attack. This game is the fastest paced one.
>>
>>274691743

A lot of that could be applied to Metroid 1.
Metroid 2 was worse, anyway.
>>
>>274691556
NIghtmare is not that bad, many people can defeat him consistently. Ridley on the other had.
>>
>>274682794
Mega ManX
Super Metroid
>>
>>274692123

It's really hard for me to beat him without a single energy tank. You have to learn a lot of tricks.
>>
>>274682794

DKC2
>>
>>274692183
You have to learn the IA patterns and how to manipulate them. That's not easy, I agree.
>>
megaman x and crash 3
>>
>>274692183

Nightmare is easy.

The space jump boss and SA-X, on the other hand, are not. The SA-X takes at least as much pattern learning as Nightmare and the space jump boss is just obnoxious with its grabs that drain a few e-tanks each.
>>
Star Wars Battlefront 2.
As a kid I was obsessed and usually had 3 people play against me and i would just rail them by surperior positioning.

Dead Space 2. Normal, Zealot, Hardcore, repeated difficulties for pc, each-weapon-only runs, gotta-go-fast, streamed zealot run, and I tried a melee-only(ish) run on easy, but I don't remember if I finished it. Also, jews at ea cheated me out of my foam finger
>>
>>274693206

The space jump boss and SA-X are easy. The space jump boss just requires a bit of forethought to predict where he'll try to grab you.
>Drain a few e-tanks each
Not if you can wriggle out. We're talking about 1% runs by the way.

>Ridley on the other had.
Ugh. Even in gameplay, Ridley is a total bastard.

He's not so bad in the Primes, but each of the 2D fights with him have no real strategy to them. You just have to shoot and dodge his attacks. One being enters, only one leaves.
>>
>>274693206
I never had a problem with the spider. Every time he goes down, you just need to move aside, going into morphball also helps.
>>
>>274693206
>SA-X
Do you not get the charge beam or something?
>>
>>274693597

Somebody never battled Ridley in Zero Mission 9% hard.
>>
>>274688705
dear god the number of runs I've done in this. The number of systems it's been released on helps.
>>
>>274692030

For some reason I prefer Metroid to ZM. Maybe it's because Metroid is a lot harder and forces you to take it slower.

>>274693779

Once you learn its pattern the SA-X is absurdly easy. But beforehand, it can kill you far faster than any other boss in the game.
>>
>>274693597
>but each of the 2D fights with him have no real strategy to them. You just have to shoot and dodge his attacks.
That's pretty much every 2D Metroid boss.
>>
>>274694014
>Once you learn its pattern the SA-X is absurdly easy. But beforehand, it can kill you far faster than any other boss in the game
That's what I meant. I thought it was really obvious that you just needed to run back and forth while charging and shooting it a lot.
>>
>>274682794
I played through Metroid fusion about 10 or 15 times. I liked it a lot at first, but the writing really makes me cringe. it feels so middle school level that i can hardly tolerate it anymore. Even when i'm trying to skip it, and zone out, I still feel it's awful presence.
>>
>>274694556
What don't you like about it? I never saw anything wrong with it.
>>
>>274694556

I found Fusion's plot and writing to be passable.
If you thought that of Fusion, just try Other M. Its script reads like Other M fanfiction.

Didnt play Banjo at all until maybe a 2 years ago since it was on xbox live. Boyfriend talked me into it, and thought it looked unappealing. holy shit was I wrong. Best fucking game I've played in a LONG time. (same with it's sequel) As a freelance game artist, i'm also impressed by the art quality and visuals for being such an old game. Being able to see old games hold up well enough because of decent art direction and talented designers is always impressive to me.
