My latest Disney Infinity shipment arrived and I'm very happy about the figure quality. If I get confirmation that I can remove the ridiculous stands on the amiibos I want, I'm game. If I can't, I'll pass. That is a serious design issue. The stands might make it sturdy, but they're fugly. Nintendo should have done poses that don't require them

As for why going through that effort? Because of a lot of these characters the amiibos are the only option. The amiibos as a series also provide style and size consistency. You could just go to a friends profile and download anything.
There's no reason you can't do that now with smash bros, except nintendo chose to lock sharing custom fighters behind the amiibo's so unlocking the ability to do this for all the characters will cost hundreds of dollars.
