Gen 4: Platinum is a mus it improves on everything that Diamond and Pearl introduced. Seriously play it, its pokemon at its peak.
Dont forget Heart Gold, it improves upon the game engine that Platinum also improved upon, plus its really fun
Gen 5: Black 2 is the best pokemon game i've ever played holy shit, just go play it.

As far as 5th Gen goes, BW1 has the better story but BW2 is probably the best. Play them in order.
