ITT: Comfy games to get into and enjoy.

I haven't had "that game" for a while for me to immerse myself into. I haven't found myself to be able to sit down and have multi hour sessions. I haven't been completely happy lately either, it is probably related, but nothing to talk about here.

Anything you can recommend to get past this slump? (Games to sink into, etc)

Favorite Genres are Open World RPGs, and 2d/3d platformers. Something comparable to Elder Scrolls or Skyrim would be nice.

Meant Elder Scrolls or Dark Souls

Playing Pokemon under a blanket while watching TV/series is top notch comfy for me, especiallly in winter when a fire is burning

Fantasy life with a big mug of hot coco shit is comfy as fuck
>>
FE Awakening, Jade Empire, Dragon Age:O

Have you tried out the Piranha Bytes games yet? I wouldn't exactly call Gothic 1 & 2 comfy, though everyone has his own perception of this. They are great games to sink time into though.
Risen(1), which is pretty similar in many ways, is incredibly comfy though and it might offer you an easier start into PB games.

i actually got fantasy life day one but haven't touched it for whatever reason. Thanks.

Oblivion, any pokemon and Age of Empires 2 are always my top choices. I´ve played them so much, especially AoE, that the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Chrismas is the whololol noise and the misioners.

The Trine series. The lovely audiovisual presentation makes you feel like you're really in a fantasy tale. I recommend a co-op partner for the second title though, the puzzles and obstacles seem to be aimed towards it and become a real pain in singleplayer.

Gamecube in general is comfy as fuck for me.

Playing Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion or Wind Waker, even the Resident Evil Remake, is comfy as fuck.

OP, I want you to go out and buy Avernum: Escape from the Pit

It's an old school style open world CRPG. The combat mechanics are satisfying turn based strategy, but the draw is the writing and the world building. It's set in an underground cave system used as a place for the empire above to send their exiles. The player has complete agency in choosing how they respond to the political situation.
It's a big ass game, with no shortage of witty and immersive writing. The sequel is likely to be coming out at the end of the year, too.
>>
>>271611953
The developer's a cool dude too.
He puts out big demos, and has a guarantee -
>don't love the game?
>it's free, just ask.

Fire emblem games, especially the gameboy ones, are perhaps the comfiest games on this earth

Drakensang and its sequel Drakensang:River of Time are both pretty comfy RPGs. They aren't really spectacular gameplay-wise, but it's a pretty solid, with a dice-roll based combat system.
It's based on a german pen and paper RPG.

Recently I felt the same way, but I picked up Wolf TNO when it was on sale and I haven't had this much fucking fun for this long in quite some time.

Don't know what I'm gonna do when I'm done with it though...

I started scribblenauts today and it is super comfy if you ignore the occasional spook like having to serve a kanibal human flesh, maxwells evil twin out of nowhere or the fact that you can kill everything with a simple typing of DEAD and many other ways.
>mfw flood is an actual item and reaps the all the worthles sinners from the current map

Elona+. Normally I'd give you a big explanation on what it's about but I'm in a bit of a hurry. It's pretty hard to get into mechanically, but trust me, you'll get absorbed quickly. Look into it, ask around don't ask the roguelike general, they're autists. I think /jp/ has threads about it. Enjoy.

some good comfy RPGs i've played recently:

Trails in the Sky (pc)- colorful and lighthearted, designed around avoiding grinding, easy to stomach turn based combat. Orbal system gets surprisingly deep.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (ds)- also colorful, a lot easier to get into and play than the first tactics, gives a great sense of freedom in character building from the start, comfy music and premise make it feel like a kickass story book. Tons of play time.

Xenoblade Chronicles (wii)- see previous post with link to soundtrack, shit is godlike. >>271614760

Final fantasy XII (ps2)- feels a lot more free than other FF, varied and rewarding open world combat. A bit MMO-like, similar to Xenoblade in moment to moment gameplay.

Dark Cloud 2 (also called Dark Chronicle, ps2)- personal favourite. comfy dungeon crawling and huge, huge amount of content. crafting, weapons building, town sim, photography, character building, time travel, customizable robot, optional monster capture system, best fishing minigame ever with racing and breeding.

I can link to where to find this stuff if anyone needs it.
>>
>>271616117
Dont complain about autists when you recommend true roguelikes.
>>
>>271615853
I'll give you a personal ranking of all the PB games.
G2>G1>>Risen1>>>>Gothic3>>Risen3>>>>>>>>>>>>>Risen2

Like I said, Risen1 might be a good start since it isn't as dated. There are a lot who don't like the controls of the first two Gothic game, and while I agree you need to get used to them I wouldn't say they are bad or hinder your fun in anyway.
So to actually get to your question: Gothic games are your typical medieval fantasy games, Risen 1 has some tropical/spanish conquistador vibe to it, but only in Risen 2 they really focused on the Pirate stuff. Risen 2 is also far worse in practically every other point as well.
Also, If you want to play the Gothic games, I would recommend playing them chronologically. They aren't directly connected to Risen, though.

I already liked the first one, but I was mindblown when I played the sequel and saw how much they improved on the design.

Screenshots still don't do it justice though, you need to smooth through the environments with that fluent gameplay.
The games are on sales fairly often, Trine 1 for something like 90 cent even, so I would wait for a sale.

man i ve been feeling like OP for a while, but i wish i could find a good grinding game
>>
>>271618321
Unlimited is just an enhenced version of the original from what I understand. The steam modding adds a little to it.
>>
>>271609790
You should try Transistor, its a different kind of comfy, its based in a somewhat digital style city and the art/background city is fucking breathe taking. The combat is simple but fun and a little challenging at times and with probably over a thousand ability combinations.

The story is great but you have to pay attention and read/listen to alot of things to get the full story and it only really unfolds towards the end of the game.

And then there is the soundtrack which is the best ive ever heard in any game, its just incredible (not to mention the humming that the protag does)

Also female protag so its good.
>>
comfy is the most meaningless sensationalist descriptor you could possibly use

Can you really not articulate what makes a particular game fun or enjoyable other than "I like the way it makes me feel"
