1.IT WASN'T made with the wii motion audience in mind. It was made with the fucking tablet gamer audience in mind. A total fuck up by the completely out of touch main office.
2.If they wanted to make a system for the wii motion audience then they should have perfected the fucking wiimote and added in the classic controller for classic games.
3.The casual audience didn't move on, nintendo simply stopped producing and totally stopped marketing to those wii owners out there. A fucking dance game for the wii was outselling fucking grand theft auto 5 for most of the christmas season.

Nintendo Land was not designed with remotely the same mindset as Wii Sports. Nintendo Land deals with more abstract concepts, and while it's also very easy to pick up and play, a core part of being a game that supports up to six players at a time, it's also very capable of being difficult in more than one of the "attractions." These aren't simple "play this sport" games adapted for the system, they're new ideas designed for the system. They had HOPED, maybe, that they could grab some casualbux, but the possibilities of the Wii U gamepad can make games MORE complex, not less.

From the start to gamecube, it was children.
Then, after they abandoned Nintendo for Microsoft and Sony, it become the wii motion casuals.
Then, Nintendo tried to take those people to their own version of a touchscreen phone, the Wii U. However, they had already moved onto smartphones with touchscreens. Which were more mobile.
Now, Nintendo has started to appeal to their "core base", which is the people that grew up with Nintendo and still support them.
Also, in the newest fiscal year report, Iwata showed how specific this demographic.
Pokemon Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire is coming out at the same time as Smash Wii U because Melee came out around the same time as Ruby and Sapphhire did. Iwata blantently says "We are now appealing to the 25 year olds that grew up with those games. They have their own money, they can afford to buy what they want now, and afford to buy more of it."
So their newest demographic: 25-30 year old people that grew up playing Nintendo games, and are still dedicated to those games.

Because Nintendo appeals to the people that buy their games. The majority that bought the Wii did so for Wii Sports, Fit, and Party. Mainly wiimote motion games. They even gimped Brawl to appeal to these people. The Wii casual crowd net them $100 million console sales. Nintendo wanted to keep these people, but saw the threat of touchscreen phone games. So they made a console to try and keep them around, with it also having a touchscreen. It was around the christmas season where Wii Party U and Wii Fit U sold terribly that they finally began to realize those people were gone.
