I built a center to research what would happen to sims in various situations. Their traits were chosen at random and they were all given the exact same rooms to live in. They had everything they needed to survive and I wanted to see how they would fare. I went through multiple generations of test subjects, I spent so much time on I started to feel guilty about what I was doing.

Generation 1 died because they refused to do anything except for yell about how they couldn't talk to each other. Despite the fact that I built tunnels to transport them to their rooms initially so that they would never meet, they still somehow knew that other sims were in the center and all but one starved to death in a puddle of their own urine this is the graveyard outside of their rooms. I learned from my mistake though and I added a hallway for gen 2 so they could talk to each other and the result is pictured here >>269297982.
Pictured is the graveyard after the failure of gen 1 as well as the two scientists I was originally going to have feed the test subjects but ended up killing them because they were superfluous to the project once I decided to give the rooms refrigerators and stoves.

Funny that, I did something similar. I wanted to see in which living area such as a lounge, kitchen, or outdoors area a sim could survive the longest. Interestingly enough, the lounge sims and outdoor imitation sims lasted longer than any other living space.
It's pretty boring, honestly.

Gen 2 systematically broke every device in the house that could be used to wash dishes or shower, as well as all but 1 computer. It got to the point where so much water was leaking onto the floors at any one time that all but one test subject started to spend every waking moment mopping up water, they only had enough free time in the day to eat. The test subject that did not succumb to this had the "slob" trait and spent all day painting pictures on all of the easels in the house. After it became clear that the endless cycle of cleaning was going to continue infinitely I decided to pick and male and a female (the only two who had managed to pick up skills while trapped in the center, the artist who had mastered painting and a man who had played guitar enough to get one skill point in it) to bring in to the next generation and kill the other ones to see how the remaining sims dealt with grief.
Pictured is the kill room I made to liquidate test subjects I was finished with.

In the first Sims my sister and I created a huge household and forced them to live on the pavement outside a moderately nice house. After the numbers slowly but steadily sank after them leaving to become hitchhikers or dying, a single gray-haired woman remained. She looked so lonely in her house all by her self, after a while I think we married her to someone. She's probably still there on an outdated pc somewhere in our parents' basement.

The two remaining gen 2 subjects were isolated for some time in the nearly empty test rooms while I built a breeding center next door. I connected the graveyard to their house so that the ghosts of their former fellow test subjects would haunt them which caused them to grieve longer than normal as they were constantly reminded of the deaths. (In case you haven't played sims 3, the ghosts actually do come and haunt them, I don't have any screen shots of the ghosts unfortunately. )

Here was my experiments, this section had 4 identical rooms with 4 random traited people, they could only see me sitting outside watching them, as a overweight hairy man in shortshorts and nothing else watching them, observing there behavior and how they reacted to living in captivity knowing they were being studied.

I don't have any screenshots after this because I was starting to get a weird feeling about what I was doing. But this screen is the breeding area just outside the baby stables, Death is reading on the couch where the magic happens. You can see the Shine to me in the background, with all of the sims laboring before the unseen force that guides them from beyond the digital veil.
All told I finished 4 generations:
Gen 3 was primarily sims with evil and mean traits who were very entertaining to watch. I let the house sims out to watch the breeding sims breed but most of them stayed inside and waited for their turn on the one working computer or playing tricks on each other. But one of the women would just go outside and watch them have sex while she waited so that she could tease the man when he was done. Ultimately though Gen 3 fell prey to the same mopping cycle as gen 2 as they all refused to fix anything
I didn't keep any from gen 3, they all went to the kill room which needed to be expanded to hold 6. I didn't feel right breeding them as they were too mean spirited.
Gen 4 was all people with what I would consider "useful" traits like enjoying fixing things, working out and artistic pursuits. They faired much better than previous subjects and actually managed to fix two showers a computer and all of the sinks.

The two elderly looking sims are the parents to the sim in this screenshot, who has just died. They were both sceintists and converted their property into the research center after figuring out how to break the mind of a Sim, they wanted to delve deeper into the psych.

Despite the fact that they have access to bottomless cereal and juice, eventually they will try to make some macaroni will enter into a never ending cycle of setting the uncooked macaroni down on the floor, getting frusterated, and then screaming and picking it back up again)

This section was a 2 part one, there was 4 sets of 2 rooms that could see into another, in 1 room it had a sleeping bag, a lawn chair and a toilet, in the other room it had exercise machines, there would be a sim in each room and they would watch eachother, while one slept or took a shit, the other one was running on the treadmill watching his every move
