it was a solid 7.5/10 until the time warping shit came about. completely ruined the game for me.

but bravely second may change that.
The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and the combat is one of the better takes on the turn-based combat system.

It has solid mechanics, welcome features that need to be in more JRPGs (fast foward, etc.). Unfortunately it relies too much on its old-school feel to carry itself through the game time, has some baffling design choices, and the latter half is composed of complete bullshit. The writing can pass off as quaint at best (depending on your tolerance for it, same goes for VA), can't say the same for how the characters were written (complete trash). It's worth a go if it's appealing to you, you just might not make it through the whole thing. I personally hated it but am curious to see how the bravely second comes about.

It made the fairly odd choice of putting all of the end-game content in the game proper, instead of making it all post-game wandering around like most games of it's type would.
If you're looking for a maximum comfy game to pull out for an hour or two without worrying about beating it, it's fan-friggin' tastic, but lots of poor anons just wanted to beat the game and didn't realize they can just skip all of the optional repeat-battling and still get the best ending (It's really obvious when you have to actually pay attention to sub-missions again).
It also does the thing I love SE for recently where it actively encourages you to find the most broken and awesome combos instead of letting you get away with being a scrub, which is fun.

If Tiz and Agnes had more character development, chapters 5-6 were more like 7 and 8 where they change the formula all around, its would have been GOAT.
Also, magic attack classes were too underpowered(summoner is shit, as is conjurer, which you get too late into the game). Had they worked a bit harder in making some of the worse classes more powerful(passives for making magic attacks hit 4 times each enemy per cast or something) the gameplay might have been more fun.
Bravely Second hype.
Pretty good, it's a shame it's only 4 chapters long.
