Since I am terrible at this game the only way I play is pretty much an awkward form of bad keep-away while the other guy goes through the pro-leet-skillz attack patterns. One on One can be a hilarious war of attrition, especially if you win. Usually you won't though :(

I fucking love getting people mad. I play as Bowser and kick their ass and suicide on their last life. I taunt with Shulk constantly since "I'm really feeling it" can be done quickly over and over. I beat people with Luma alone and spam the star tickle move. Shit like this gets people mad and it becomes easy to win because they stop thinking and just want to rush me down.
Just spend the entire time rolling and shield grabbing. Enjoy that online input lag so that defense can't be punished, even with down smashes, then laugh but cry inside because it's just Brawl 2.0

The wheelie will block almost all attacks, and slamming it down on someone will kill around 110.
It respawns as soon as it goes off the map or gets destroyed, so you can just launch it at people, as well. So far I think taunting on the bike is the only taunt you can do in the air.

stun everything. ftilt on approach, or slide if you need to knock them. use neutral B often. You can throw it diagonally into the ground and pick it up with a dash attack to combo another throw off, as well.

remember you can use all your moves after your recovery. All his smashes are good for killing, down smash will come out fastest.
UTilt or BAir are easy kills. Very effective in team battle because of all the stun you produce.

Honestly it's just a blend of technical SSB knowledge, practice and your attitude as a player. If you're playing ranged characters (ESPECIALLY Fox and Samus) put those fucking guns to use and constantly harass the field. Don't shield/roll too much, as it leaves you open to grabs and laggy tilts. It's important to find a character you like to play as who isn't complete dogshit. I loved DK in previous smashes (particularly in Melee) but at some point he became a a massive pain in the ass to use properly. Avoid spamming, using a counter is fine. Using a counter over and over again is lame as balls and makes you boring (looking at you Lucina fags). Try not to think of the game too competitively; the people who play these games 'pro' all have HUGE personality problems and tend to embody some of the most juvenile aspects of the fanbase, despite their massive quantities of body hair.
