What's a good video card game?

And for the love of god don't say Hearthstone.

The best

Emulate it RIGHT NOW
>>
>>266596995

I'm not going to lie, Hearthstone is actually legit.

But Ascension Chronicles of the Godslayer is really good.

The rules are really simple, games are fast and (at least on the original ipad version) you could have multiple games going at once so you weren't dependent on waiting for one person to choose a move.

Are you playing on mobile or PC?

On PC I actually don't like the magic games at all, I much prefer just playing the card game. But my friend loves them.
>>
>>266596995
Hearth is fun. Try that.
>>
A friend of mine asked me to play Hearthstone with him just yesterday and I started the download not too long ago
I have no plan about that stuff, why is it bad? Unbalanced?
Also can you just get your cards with grinding or do you have to pay?
>>
The one you posted is great
>>
>>266597617
You can get your cards by grinding. It is possible to get every card without paying a cent. It'll take a while, though.
>>
>>266596995
>Tails, Tails, Tails, Tails. Charmander took 0 damage.

I like that game but it can be a bitch sometimes.
>>
>>266597617

You do NOT have to pay, but it would take a while to get every card. However the tutorial levels give you enough gold to unwrap at least a few packs.
>>
>>266597617
They took a TGC and just took out things.
No more trap cards or spell cards that linger on the field and you can't do anything during your enemies turn.
It's just straight up casualized.

Battle Card was a lot of fun, but I'll admit that the number of really good decks was limited. Episode 2 greatly expanded on that, but if you tried using something like a big stompy Golem deck then you'll find yourself losing consistently against certain opponents.

Do hearthstone, as an actual magic the gathering player I will say it is 10 times cheaper, more balanced, and you don't get fucked out of resource management.

And if you are actually GOOD at the game do arenas and never pay a fuckin cent.

I played a couple of hours into the first game. I seem to recall reaching a point where hitting stuff with weak attacks didn't leave it weak enough to catch easily, but hitting stuff with strong attacks killed it immediately. I'm not quite sure I really got the strategy down right for the game.

When I was in fifth grade I remember there being an article in some Wizards magazine talking about a 500 card all green superdeck. I think it was called the green giant or something.

The guy went to tournaments and played non-regulated games just for fun and people fucking loved it. No one cared about "beating" him or whatever, they just wanted to play him to see what he'd put in the behemoth.

MTGO, if you can stomach shitty as all fuck client and very complex game states.
HEX is basically shittier version of MTGO with better client.
YGOpro have slick, easy to use client with all rules and card implemented, but last part is it weakness at the same time, no collectible experience, people online mostly play tier 1 decks and so on.
PokemonTCG is really nice put together and finally playable with booster system that makes sense, it is somewhat ruined by the shitty avatar and generally lack of people to play with.
CardHunter have godlike aesthetics but is pretty much p2w all the way.
Infinity Wars is nice but feels too obtuse with questionable balance and design choices, on top of lacking production values.
SolForge is p2w tablet shit, don't touch it with 20 feet stick.
Cabals is the best mobile TCG currently, but it has very low install base and very grindy because of it's mobile origins, although it is not as bullshit in that regard as most other mobile card games are. It is also have the fucking best setting and artstyle, pic very related.
Duel of Champions is meh, although it has very nice visuals and decent client, ubi sucked all the fun out of the game when they tried to fix it and made it even more p2w than it was before their fixing.
Scrolls is serviceable, but is very slow on updates and stuff, i didn't much like mechanics personally, but that is a matter of taste.
Faeria is basically better version of scrolls, it is also one of the few card games that is plain buy and play, you can only get cards by playing the game itself or trading with other people, no donations or any shit like that.

I think i covered most of the more known and popular ones. Pick you poison op. Also if anyone have any questions about any digital TCGs around feel free to ask, i played almost all of the pc client/browser ones.

How did you deal with guts drain, or pretty much anything unpleasant that required a dodge to avoid? Golems were pretty terrible at dodging, and they all had big attacks costing lots of guts that could easily be dodged. Most Golem decks I've seen would end up running themselves out of cards just trying to get the guts for moves.

Will try this one out.

I loved Episode 1.

Cue is a cue t 3.14
>>
>>266597960
That's not quite true. There are trap cards (or secrets) in the game.
HS is very simple, but its biggest fault is in my opinion the small card pool. It's almost impossible to build an original deck because there's a very limited number of playable cards.

I'd recommend everyone who likes card games to at least give it a try. I easily got a couple hundred hours of enjoyment out of it and I currently own almost every card I need for competitive decks without ever spending a single penny.
>>
>>266604903
Secrets implemented in a very shit way though. You can't control where to activate or anything, the just fire whenever. Heartstone also have a damn fucking lot random shit in as its core gameplay mechanics. Even some higher level games often boils down to will my ragna hit the right guy or not.
>>
>>266605546
And most other card games boil down to "will I top deck". Atleast with the smaller deck sizes you can work out your probability of drawing the right card and plan your next move.
>>
>>266604181
Have you played Yomi?
>>
>>266596995
Hearthstone is by far the best video card game I have played.
>>
>>266604903
The secret cards are still out of your control.
You just put one up and the first time it's trigger is met it'll pop, no player input whatsoever.
>>
>>266606318
yeah its done that way on purpose so the opposing player has a chance to counter.
>>
>>266606123
Not in a way Hearstone does. In fact pretty much every deck for pretty much any other TCG tries its hardest to minimize randomness involved.
>>
AT card wars an Club Penguin Card-Fu
>>
>>266602608

In stages lol. It as like 5 shuffles of 100 cards, 5 deck cuts then one giant cut just for fun.

I believe I remember that all the way back from reading it in 5th grade.
>>
>>266607110

*I can't believe I remember that
>>
>>266606624
Its done that way on purpose of not scaring away mobile casuals with game mechanics that are actually involve thinking. Heartstone is one the most uninteractive TCG out there precisely because you can't do shit during opposing player phase, you might as well not see what he is doing.
>>
>>266607287
Nothing wrong with a turnbased game being turnbased.

Would be ridiculous if you could hold onto your mirror entity for the perfect moment.
When I play against mages I fish for that secret by playing 1 mana minions.
>>
>>266605546
Well, you didn't say anything about having control over the traps.
The big luck factor in many cards is Hearthstone's schtick. It's supposed to make the game more casual. Other card games go out of their way to avoid randomness while HS goes out of its way to add randomness.

>>266607287
Not being able to do anything during you opponent's turn doesn't make the game less interactive. According to that criterion chess would be uninteractive, too.
I like not being able to do anything on your opponent's turn, I can just tab out while my opponent is playing and quickly do my turn when I tab back in. Good game for lurking imageboards.
>>

HS is a good game. Retards like to shout "P2W!!1" even though you have to spend a shit ton less money to keep up with HS than MtG. I dropped like $200 total over a year and have nearly every card (missing a couple of Legendaries I don't care about) and have a ton of excess gold and dust (soft currencies) for when the next set finally comes out.

m8 I played Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2, I used to love them. I'd probably reccommend 2 more since it gives you a lot more freedom, no random battles that lock you into a section of the map, just free roaming and fighting enemies within the map. I could never beat that level at the end in 2 where you have to clear 30 or so floors with the most powerful monsters in the game at the last floors.
