Now that the fate of Steam on Windows is sealed, will you switch over to SteamOS?

What does this have to do with Steam?
>>
>>266595315
Windows 10 is gonna have a built-in store for full blown pc games.

this.
you can't stop using steam or you will lose all your games
>>
>>266595564
Which will achieve nothing for sales because a lot of games use Steamworks these days and absolutely must go through Steam in the first place. Where it's very unlikely MS' store is going to be anywhere near competitive from a pricing perspective.
>>
So mandatory GFWL?
Guess we'll be staying on 7 for a long time.
>>
>modern, classical, and desktop apps

Where the fuck is the distinction there?
>>
Good, more competition, as much as i like Valve, they can't be allowed to have a monopoly
>>
>>266594684
There's a reason why Microsoft haven't really tried to enter the PC gaming market, they've got secret ties with Valve. That's why Valve haven't outright ported every single one of their games to Linux.
>>
>Now the store can sell all kinds of software

Windows 10 will be the last Windows version to allow anyone to make and release software. Windows 11 will require all apps be licensed and sold on the store only.

Linux fags need to just complete their cult and Jonestown themselves out of existence.
>>
>>266596225
I think "modern" is shit that uses the metro menu, "classical" are the not retarded type of program, ie pretty much everything you use, "desktop" are applets like the currency converter and weather forecast on W7.
>>
Fuck Microsoft for adopting the retarded phrasing that Apple uses.
>>
>>266596543
Mac OS has double digit adoption rate though

:^)
>>
>>266596225

Modern is that god awful fullscreen apps that Windows 8 has for image viewer and shit

Classical is proper software like the stuff you're using today.

Desktop means basically Widgets from Vista/Seven. Little cloak, weather panel, currency, etc.

why don't people just say program or application?
why is it the thing, now, to refer to anything on a computer as an app?

>>
>>266596640
I'd just like to interject for a moment: what you're referring to as Linux is, in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

>Programs are apps now
>>
>>266597553
Because it's incredibly obvious why people say 'app' instead of program or application (and why it's used in marketing now for PC applications), and the fact that it pisses you off is retarded too.
>>
>>266597867
At least most good old Microsoft games are currently on the Steam store.

But I'd imagine things like AoE2 and AoM will be removed once the Windows Store goes live.

Not to my knowledge. In fact, most builds are more similar to OSX than Windows, though Mint's interface reminds me a lot of XP.

I get more FPS in Spring RTS at 1440p than I ever did on Win7. If the game is ported by at least semi competent people there shouldn't be a problem.
