Why would you use two saitek joysticks instead of a joystick and a throttle?

Meant to start the thread with this image. Well whatever.

Oh wow, I wasn't the only one that was bothered by that.

How the fuck do you control throttle with no throttle? That just looks annoying. I don't think the artist has ever played a flight sim before

plus the X-52 connects to the PC through the throttle anyway so that setup is just wasteful
>>
The X-52 sucks, too. Fucking shit.

If she was gonna use dual sticks for whatever reason she shoulda got T-16000Ms

Have you heard if the X-55 is any good? If I could use the X-65 throttle with it it seems like it'd be perfection

Holy fuck why is Thrustmaster and CH shit so expensive? The Fighterstick and Cougar are like almost 10 years old but are still over a hundred dollars
>>
>>265896089
Can get a T-16000m for £36.23
>>
>>265896529
Yeah I know that, but I meant if I wanted to get a HOTAS, I see no reason for a Cougar to cost nearly as much as a used Warthog even though the Warthog is superior in every way

Yeah you're better off getting a Warthog, the cost of Hall mods and shit to make a Cougar halfway decent would make it cost even more in the end
>>
>>265894054
You are operating in space and need separate joysticks for three axis thrust and three exist rotation.
>>
>>265896089

Because it is fucking GOAT that's why.
>>
>>265897375
Hats do lateral thrusters just fine, and rolling is handled by either petals or stick twist (which the X-52 has)

Lateral thrusters in SC aren't anywhere near strong enough to need to be analog
>>
>>265895383
Excuse me for not trusting an anonyous 4channer. Can you post me to a review, which says, that x52 is bad.

Plus if we're being frank, right now Mouse is the superior control method in Star Citizen

I'm really regretting funding this shit, I'm going to stop playing until it's finished, then at least I have the possibility of being pleasantly surprised
>>
>>265897642

Go on amazon.

Also all madcatz products are fucking shit.

Did you learn nothing from those 3rd party console controllers from when you were 10?

Fuck madcatz

I need vertival thrust too, but I want binary (on/off) thrust with a scalable output. Pedals are important but I do not want to split directional (forward/back, left/right, up/down) thrust between three different sensors. I want up/down and side/side on my left joystick, and forward/back on the trigger buttons. I will use a rotary switch to increase or decrease the force of binary thrust.

For atmospheric flight, I want a throttle.

This all comes after quite a bit of trial and error.
>>
>>265897714
To be clear, I am talking about Newtonian physics not Star Wars "ether" space battles. The latter might as well be atmospheric and a throttle is preferred.
>>
>>265898368
I don't really get the need for that much control. See >>265897563 that lat thrusters aren't anywhere near powerful enough to matter, it's your main engines that get you the most speed. That is handled by throttle, and left/right and up/down lateral thrusters on a hat.

Sure you might be able to do incredibly tiny precise movements, but A. there isn't a situation where you need to and B. you'll just get killed by a mouse user's pinpoint aim all the same
>>
>>265897725
X52 was released before Saitek was bought by mad catz. I've never tried 3rd party controllers for consoles (except for sega mega drive made by a no name brand, which was decent).

I made the mistake some time ago of just buying a joystick.

I need some pedals, I want to get into some flight sims like Rise of Flight and Il2, but I dont know whats the best choice for pedals, maybe also get a driving wheel in the process and so get the pedals.
>>
>>265898591
Depends on the game. In a Newtonian environment, thrust is only turned on for short bursts--inertial keeps you moving on one direction. A simple finger toggle actually gives you more precise control than a throttle that has to travel a few cm.
>>
>>265898595

No it wasn't you were just 8 and didn't know shit about quality.

No madcatz product has ever been good.

No company bought by madcatz has ever produced a good product.

Madcatz is the epitome of shit.
