Bear in mind it's the home of Garry's Mod and Rust, which takes a lot of people in both columns. I'm a member of NeoGAF, and why I don't have a problem with most of the normal members, I do sort of get rubbed the wrong way by the Mods...it's not the "sjw!" stuff or anything, I mean they just always seem to want to impress people no matter what the topic. I never see most of the mods post normal replies, it always has to be them one-upping the "normal" members.
Although, honestly, every forum I've been on the normal members seemed way cooler than the mods. And likewise, when a member became a mod, they changed.

Perfect example of this is the difference between Shouta and EmCee. Both were cool, chill posters before they became mods. Shouta remained that way and still just chilled out in the fighting game threads and acted like a normal person. I go on neogaf either for purely dev reasons (indie here) or just for pure game discussion when I just want to avoid constant confontation (not that I dislike it, but sometimes you're just ill or tired or something) but every other place has become a better alternative now because of the mods there.
There's always kind of a problem with forums who uses ID but neogaf it's just so damn apparent due to the restrictive nature of the account that the mods have a fucking hardon for power the moment you cross their path.
