We used to pan developers for releasing games with weird new ideas with spotty implementation...
Geist and pic related weren't exactly great games by any means, but they had unique mechanics.
Now no developer can get their product to the shelves without destroying their initial vision.
I'd gladly blow a whole paycheck on games like these before buying a PS4 or Xbone so I can play FPS #8238729 or Assassin's Creed 82394234982

The gunplay saved FEAR from mediocrity.
Look at FEAR 2 and 3. They lost the great gunplay from the first game and they were awful because of it.

Played it many times onXBand I never had any problems. I even heard that the frame rate issues and nearly all other issues were fixed in the PC release too.
